AJs Grandpa Posted August 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2005 Anyone have experience getting Carnival to provide a wheelchair for use on the ship? I've had great luck with Celebrity and Princess--allowed use for entire cruise including on shore. Carnival website says their chairs are for "emergency only" and not to be used off the ship. Is that defensive language, or do they follow it to the letter? Anyone have experience?
PiperMcB Posted August 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2005 They pretty much stick to their guns. You will need to bring your own or rent for the ship. Carnival can tell you their recommended providers.
CaptData Posted August 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2005 Try Care Vactions or Scooter Around.
serene56 Posted August 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2005 Carnival does not allow their chairs off on the ports. They do have wheelchairs for people who need them while waiting to check in. We rented a chair for my mom through carnival- it was 80 bucks for the week. The chair is in the cabin. She was able to use a chair when boarding. Got preferential treatment to board and one other person was allowed to board with her-- not our whole family. Whenshe got to the cabin the chair was there. after the cruise she used the chair and a carnival employee too it back to the ship after she got in the cab. AJs Grandpa Posted August 2, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted August 2, 2005 Thanks everyone. That was quick and on the mark. I'll just rent one and be done with it. Already sent an inquiry to Care Vacations and will compare with Carnival's deal.
