Southport Raw Bar - Parking?

Staying at Lao Mar and will have a car. Wondering what the parking is like at Southport. Would like to know if they have only a handful of spaces, mostly street parking or if I shouldn't bother taking my car there (it's a Saturday eve we're going). There will be 6 and I'm not opposed to taking a taxi there. Thoughts?

There are only a handful of spaces in front of the restaurant but there is lots of parking in the immediate area. We always park at my girlfriend's house then walk there so I've never had to fight for parking.

If you google earth you'll see there is a lot of parking in the area.

Correct about this. The lot right in front is very small and also has another business right next to the Southport Raw Bar. There is a sign that directs you to an additional lot for Southport. As mentioned there is other parking (on street) in the area. It's a pretty cool place to hang out at. Pretty good food (excellent clam chowder), cold beer, it has a local's feel to it, and the outside deck area is nice. It's my favorite place so far in Ft. Lauderdale. There are pictures of the place in my review of the Allure (link in my signature).

Taxi is a good way to go especially if you plan on having some adult beverages and because parking can be tight. No need to risk an encounter with the local P.D.
