A & G 2 Cruise Lovers Posted May 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2014 Can anyone recommend a good "off the beaten path" restaurant in Grand Cayman? We would like to try local food, away from some of the crowds. Thank you!
mrsfuzzmo Posted May 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2014 My favorite so far is My Bar. It's not really "off the beaten path" but it is almost always not crowded. It's located at the Sunset House Dive Resort, about a mile south of town. (Turn right when you get off the tenders and start walking). Takes about 20 minute or so. We cabbed the first year because we didn't know how close it was and we had a hard time finding someone to drive us there. They looked at us like we were crazy getting a cab for a5 minute ride. :) We didn't know. We walked back to town. Great little menu, lots of fresh unique foods, nice cold beer and the prices are the best we've seen anywhere near Georgetown. We also liked that it's right smack on the water, and there's awesome snorkeling right there, along with a pool, good music, and sunshine!

drew sailbum Posted May 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2014 For local food in the tourism zone try Myrtle's Restaurant in the Queen's Court shopping centre at 179 West Bay Road. Any bus going to/from Seven Mile beach will pass there. A bit off the beaten tourism path is Champion House II at 43 Eastern Avenue. It is a favourite of locals so likely to be busy with island residents. It is a bit of a walk from the port, but not too far.
