Casino and OBC

Recommended Posts

Just checking to see if I understand this correctly...

We have significant OBC from our TA (refundable), my husband would like to try the craps tables. But we can't charge the chips to our room without paying a 5% fee?

To get chips, you must pay with cash, unless you have the cash they charge a cash advance to your account - with fee - then you can use the cash to get chips?

Trying to figure out if we should be extra cash just for the casino - the 5% seems like too much to waste since our OBC is refundable.

If your OBC is refundable, you do not have the problem that incentivizes the use of OBC in the Casino and makes the 5% Cash Advance loss very reasonable.

I did not blink at the 5% fee on my last cruise due to excessive OBC and the fact that taking out $ in Europe would have cost more in bank fees and exchange rate variation.

To avoid the 5% fee, take cash for the casino. Then if you still have refundable OBC left on the last night of the cruise, you can go to Guest Services and get a cash refund with no fee.

When we have OBC from previous cruises accumulated from using the casino

We have not been charged for using that in the casino

Miami normally contact us or we call them 2 weeks before to see what amount they have given us

We typically meet with Casino host or director ( chat about the OBC) and then go to the teller and draw the amount there and then with no fee

Happy Days:)

It sounds like you are a member of Royal's player's club, Club Royale. If so, that is why you are allowed to get cash from your onboard account without any fees.

Thanks - before we took more cash along, I just wanted to check what I thought I understood. It was a bit confusing because most people seemed to want to use the casino to get back non-refundable OBC, and that wasn't our situation.

I was telling my husband that I think it has something to do with not using credit cards at casinos or something. Every Visa or AmEx gift card we have ever received has stated that they may not be used at casinos - maybe something in the rules somewhere to protect people from themselves ;)
