SteakMama Posted May 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2014 Hi there, are we allowed to bring our own wine on a HA cruise to the carribean? Or beer? I'm sure it's been asked lots, just couldn't find a thread on it, thanks in advance! Sent from my iPad using Forums
cruise_bunnies Posted May 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2014 No problem in asking. You can't bring beer. You can bring 2 bottles of wine per cabin (or 1 bottle per person, depends on who you ask and I never sailed solo) no larger then 750ml on board without incurring any fee. If you want to consume it in the dining room instead of the cabin, you will be paying a corkage fee of currently $18. After that, you are paying a corkage fee (regardless if you consume it in your cabin or in the dining room) for each bottle you bring on board. This also counts for bottles brought on board that you bought during the trip. You can also bring champagne! Have a good cruise.

If there is one person in a cabin, the limit would be one bottle. If there are 2 adult passengers, it's 2 bottles. Three adult passengers has a limit of three bottles, and so on. Krazy Kruizers Posted May 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2014 The champagne has the same rules -- 1 bottle per person. So you have a choice of bring either wine or champagne onto the ship. All wine brought onto the ship must be in your carry-on. If you bring extra bottles beyond your allotment, there is table right behind the security scanner where they will take down your cabin number and name so that they can charge your shipboard account the extra $18 per bottle corkage fee and put a sticker on each extra bottle. No beer or hard alcohol can be brought onto the ships. And if you try to smuggle anything in your checked luggage -- yes HAL has a "naughty" room. We had a problem a Beverage Card and had to go to the front desk in March. The "naughty" room is right next to the front desk. And there were several huge loads of luggage and people waiting to go inside and have their luggage opened and checked. Nieuw Amsterdam

jtl513 Posted May 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) Champagne is wine.Yes ... but some HAL ships have been known to disallow port wine because it's fortified! So sometimes is not wine according to HAL. Edited May 23, 2014 by jtl513
