Navigator May 25 -

Recommended Posts

Well, i finally have some time to post some more.... Sorry its late...

We had breakfast at the Holiday it, it was really nice, and included in the price. homemade omelet, meats, fruits, oatmeal, potatoes, juices. Really good. Then we headed out to the port. We didn't really get lost, but the names of the streets aren't posted too good. We were on Broadway looking for 87, only to find out it's one in the same. my directions said to get off at 51 street and go on harborview. We were on 35th thinking we better go back to 51 street. went to harborview and continued. We could have went to 25th on broadway and been there, but that's okay. Traffic was decent at 9:45 and went into the terminal just past 25 street. We went in and RCCL has to stay in the far left lane, only we were too left and missed the baggage lane which is to the right. So we went around again and traffic was starting to pick up abit. We dropped our luggage off... a breeze, and headed out to galveston park and cruise. it was at 25 street and strand. we walked to the terminal and got in line. It was a zig zag line, we were in the last row, but as soon as we got there it was moving to a fast pace walk. check in was fast and we were on our way to board the ship. This was about 11:ish. more to come

we get on the ship and since we had a good breakfast we headed up to the pool area so DH could smoke. It was a decent area, but it could've been a little longer. There's a big screen and the smokers either have to stretch their necks to see or see nothing at all. I guess that's the price to pay to smoke. And my DH understands those that can't be around it so he does what he has to.

we walked around a little... this is a beautiful ship, but after doing the oasis and then the allure, it really seems small. (I'm in love with the big ships) So we went to the windjammer around 12:30 for lunch. I took a picture of my plate and will upload later. The food was good, no complaints about the taste, but it didn't seem like there was a lot of variety. I'm kinda comparing to the Oasis and Allure and i don't know it's because the NOS is a smaller ship or what. We were on the Adventure and Explorer which is it's sister ships and it seemed like we had a bigger variety too. Anyrate, we got full.

Rooms were ready at 1:00 and since this was our 1st JR suite, i was amazed and in awe on how much room there is. we have a sitting chair in the corner with a foot rest, and about 5 feet from the bed to the vanity where the tv is. A walk in closet with a wire shelf top to bottom and across, a balcony that's the size of 2 balcony rooms. My husband loves the fact it's got a coffee maker in the room. (back in 1999 and 2001 i brought my own but it's not allowed now). The bathroom has a tub, i don't know if i'll use, but it's like 2 feet deep! This will spoil me!!!

This time my DH and i said we weren't going to do any naps in the day, but after a couple of drinks (I rarely drink mixed drinks) and not getting much sleep the last few days and a full stomach, i took a nap. LOL

We woke up when it was time for the muster. Weird cause as soon as be got there they did the life jacket demo and we were done. we didn't have to take our life jackets. The allure and oasis was on video and much longer.

After muster i finished unpacking and then got ready for dinner. We have 5:30 MDR. I had requested a window about 4 weeks prior to cruise and that's what we got. here's the link http://www.RCLDining@rccl.com. Dinner was really good, i had the salmon. We have really nice table mates, but one it's her first cruise and questions everything... i like that cause you don't learn if you don't ask. I was going to take pictures of my dinner but she (tablemate) didn't look like the type to know what i was doing. btw, i had the summer medley (strawberries, pineapple, mint leave and kiwi and the shrimp cocktail. Feel free to order more.. and ask for bread if you want more too. I just make sure i eat it all and don't waste. Dinner was the crusted salmon. I thought it was good! So after dinner, i had to get a new seapass, it wouldn't open the door and had to go to guest services. one more for today to come

Last one for day 1 sunday

i did bring water on board and wrapped it more with tape so it wouldn't get torn open, but it didn't come with my luggage. When i had asked about my card, i asked about the water and guest services said to go to 2nd floor security. I did and it was in there with about 10 other cases of water. They wanted to make sure we didn't fill it with liquor. Now this case was wrapped from the store no opened bottles, and somehow i put liquor in them??? oh well, no problem we got our water. So we walked around again some more and came back to the room. It's 9:30 and i'm really a party pooper. I'm going to bed so i will be able to do so much more this week.

Oh, i got internet, but it's working pretty slow. Tomorrow is a sea day and i'll write more... :D

We haven't been on Royal in a few years, do they still make you go outside for the muster drill? Everytime we were on the sunny side. Our last several cruises were on Princess and we only had to meet in one of the lounges near our muster. We'll be sailing in 2 weeks.

Great, hope you have a good time. It depends on your cabin. Ours happens to be outside 4 decks down. Some cabins will met inside. When we were on the allure and oasis, it was held in the dining rooms. there are 3 decks and it held all the people. They did it with video. there were tvs placed all over the dining rooms. I do imagine the waiters really hate cause everyone is sitting at all the tables. But it works.

Hello, here's my 1/2 day for day 2 - sea day.

Like i said we are in a just forward of the mid ship (forward) and while i like the aft, DH and I haven't noticed any difference EXCEPT (there's always a but lol) we get turned around really easy and also, the main dining room is in the back of the ship. But it's good.

We slept pretty good... we had asked our room steward for extra pillows and viola... underneath the bed, she pulled them out and put pillow cases on them and we were all set.

Windjammer for breakfast. again, not as much as a selection as the oasis/allure, but the favorites were all there, eggs, sausage, breads, bacons, hash, fruits, pancakes/french toast/waffles. The one thing i did like that they have on this and sister ships is the ability to make the omelets/fried eggs in the windjammer. With the big ships you can only get at johnny rockets, and mdr, which meant you don't get what and how much you want as in the windjammer.

I did notice the hand santizer was located before the windjammer and there was a rccl person there, but they were a couple feet away and didn't patrol it like the oasis/allure. Many went through without using it on the way in and out.

Our room steward is very good... she's been with rccl for 10's from jamica. very through, kind and prompt. Also very friendly. looks like WOW card is warranted!

we went window shopping, same stuff as always, pricey... but i did find a big beach bag that was only $3.00 more than walmart! so i bought it.

we went through the casino and of course it's in the morning so it wasn't smoky .... yet

Another observation... by the pool, you didn't have to show your card to get a towel nor when you return it. i know RCCL changed the policy to not have to have the card, but it seems like i read somewhere they went back to using it again. Well, on the Navigator you don't.

Another thing i thougt was nice was they had buglers to pay tribute for memorial day, and then prayer. i was really impressed how most everyone bowed their heads and it was so very quiet.

So we ended up by the pool on the smokers side (of course) and all of a sudden around 12 everyone was getting nachos and tacos. They had a setup for all to get.

And again please just an observation.... unless people didn't know or they just wanted to sit there. there were people sitting in the smokers side on the port side of the pool area, making less chairs for smokers. Being how this area is so very small, it does make it tough for smokers.

Going on past that note, we are having a great time. I will get up early and try to take lots of pictures. It's cozumel so i might not get them uploaded till nighttime or the next day. I'll write more later....

Please... if anyone else on this same cruise ... please join in, everyone always has something more they have/havenot experienced. Till later...:)

Thanks for taking the time to complete this review. We'll be boarding the Navigator on the August 24th Western itinerary.

Enjoy the Eastern itinerary, we did Falmouth/Georgetown/Cozumel last September on the Freedom.

Looking forward to the review!
