Am Getting Free Cruise from Total Rewards

I was within days of booking our next cruise and just found out through Total Rewards website that we are getting a free cruise for 2. I called Total Rewards for info as I do not have a mailer piece. I must book my vacation much in advance so I was trying to find out dates/ships. They said they could not help me with that until I came to pick up the certificate on June 8. Has anyone else here just gotten a recent certificate for this? It is not our first freebie from Total Rewards so I know they pick certain voyages. They said I may or may not get a certificate in the mail but I am just chomping at the bit to see if I can make the timing work. Thanks for anyone with any info - I know it might not be the same but just hoping.

You will get a certificate or something and directions to call CAS - Casinos at Sea. Depending on your level of play (not tier), you will get anywhere from an inside to a suite cabin.

You will stay pay taxes and fees. Around $500 per person. So, not totally free.

They almost always require you to visit the casino to get the certificate. This way they have a chance to get some more "donations" from you. They may offer a number of dates, or possibly just one or two.

There are slight variances to this from time to time, but the above is close to what you should expect.

The mailers from total rewards are great, but you do need to visit the casino for the info. If you have sailed NCL prior, and gambled in their casino, sometimes CAS gives as good a deal as total rewards( port charges and taxes) CAS pricing depends on ( of course past play), and then all the same criteria as other sailings....ship, week, availability. Never hurts to call CAS

Safe sailing

We have used about a dozen of these offers.

You do have to visit the casino ... usually. The last two we got, we were on a previously scheduled free cruise on the date we supposedly had to visit. One casino host picked it up for us and mailed it, the other just held it for us until we got home.

We get a free inside cabin but we always upgrade it to a balcony. Still a great deal.

We have sailed on a few comped cruises. They are GREAT about NOT giving any info before you pick up the certificate. They want you to come there to get it! We have received MANY certificates. Some were valid for sailings in the next 2 months!!!!! Some were valid on multiple ships and for most dates in the next year. They are ALL different.

No matter what, it's still a great deal! And definitely worth the gamble, IMHO.

Good luck!

How much gambling/playing the slots etc on average does one have to get one of these certificates?

Curious myself.

When not cruising, DW and I play at Total Rewards related casinos.

We play enough that they give us free rooms and flights to the casinos.

On cruises however, our gambling is minimal since WE find the odds are laughable; can't even get a free drink.:o

We did the total rewards cruise in November 2012. We sailed to the Caribbean on the Pearl.

We flew in January to Vegas to pick up our vouchers at Caesars. There was no problem doing that and everything went very smooth. We did pay port fees and taxes. It cost us around $700 for two of us for our free cruise, not counting what we spent on board. I would do that again in a heartbeat.

We booked for September for a cruise on the Getaway without having a Total rewards certificate. However, you still get a discount on the cruise with NCL depending which level you are with Total rewards. Good deal!!!

Yes, that was part of our stipulation. We flew to Vegas in January, had a great trip with my daughter and Son in law who also went and then had our cruise in November. We choose the dates. They gave us a list of dates I believe. It may be different for each person where or how you get your total reward certificate for the cruise.

Oh, and the price I listed above was for an ocean view cabin on the 10th deck.

If you are getting free flights, you are PROBABLY in a level of play to get some cruise offers from time to time.

Yes, odds onboard are worse than land casinos. As to drinks... if you are booked through CAS, you usually get drink cards for free drinks, while playing. New players usually have to earn 1,500 points to get a drink card.

No, we did not get free flights. We paid for our flight to Vegas to pick up the certificates and to our flight to Florida..Oops...just noticed that wasnt addressed towards me. Sorry.

So you have to fly to Vegas to get your certificate?

It's been years since we were there and were comped rooms for a weekend once after our first visit.

We have never tried booking CAS and not gained many points, therefore no free drinks in ship casinos.:)

Since we have an upcoming weekend date in Atlantic City, in about two weeks, maybe I'll give them(TR) a call, and get some offer details before we go.

At this time, we have three cruises booked and another "free" cruise which is part of a deal with NCL. It's unscheduled at this time.

So actually, we have lots of time to gain information and place a "casino" cruise somewhere in the future.

Thank you all for the informative thread.

You don't have to go to Vegas. There are Total Rewards casinos all over the country. We have received free ones from Horseshoe Southern Indiana, Horseshoe Cleveland, Horseshoe Cincinnati. Harrah's St. Louis and Caesars Windsor.

I assume you have to be a Diamond level, but don't know for sure.

These have nothing to do with how much you gamble on the ships, just what you do at the land based casinos. Because we find the slots on the ships to be very unfriendly, we don't spend much time in them at all.

First issue - offers are generally based on your average play, and not tier. Of course, if your average play is normally high, you may reach Diamond sooner than others. But - ADT - avg daily theo is the top measurment.

Next - Yes, the offers from a land based casino have nothing to do with your play onboard. BUT - if you onboard play is strong, the ship will offer you a great deal to come back and try again. If strong enough, even a suite is possible.

Are you eligible for any discounts or free cruise if you are a diamond level with TR, but never cruised w/NCL? This would be my SIL...just wondering...could she call TR to see if she qualifies for anything?

Yes, I think they get an automatic 20%...

Okay, I did a google for you and found this

Well I've contacted both Total Rewards at our local Casino and NCL CAS and can't get anymore information on the ships/dates even though I now have a confirmed reservation at Horseshoe Cincinnati to pick up the certificate on June 8.

I know it is policy and some probably really do not know the details, but they just don't understand that the waiting is killing me and that part of the planning AND spending time on cruise critic with roll calls and just plain info is a huge part of the excitement of the cruise for me. Oh well, my family thinks I am nuts.

I just have this job that makes it really tough to get a week or 6 days off consecutively and the earlier I can get the process started the better.

I am not complaining, I am really excited, just ready to know when and on what ship. I have a week's vacation scheduled in mid July and a cruise on the Getaway would be fabulous. Oh well, it is now less than 2 weeks till I find out.icon12.gif

Yes, of course your play has to figure onto it. F you went into a casino and played hard for a few visits that SHOULD be noticed and you'd get an offer. But we've never figured out exactly how the comps and offers relate to recent play.

Since we get the Total Rewards offers frequently, we don't really need to impress the on board system. We are sure we couldn't get enough points on a cruise to get a free cabin of any type without spending as much in the casino as the cabin would cost in the first place. Yes, I know you could possibly win more than you lost, but the odds aren't that good.

Gooch 47 When did you pick up your cinci certificate? We also did a free one on the jewel in Feb as we generally drive in from cinci. I am hoping for the getaway as I find we enjoy the mega ships more. My pickup date is June 8.

I am Platinum level and just picked up my certificate in Tunica, MS 2 days ago. I got an email from Total Rewards saying I had been rewarded a free cruise, so I called and made an appt (anytime between 5 - 7pm this past Saturday). There are about 10 different cruises/ships that we can pick from, all interior cabins.
