pennywaltz Posted May 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2014 I am about to book a cruise. I think the answer is yes, but I wanted to make sure. I am looking at two travel sites for the same cruise. Both offering two different deals. Can I use my OBC to pay gratuities? One of the travel site is offering only OBC and the amount is a lot. One of the travel agents I'm looking at gives me an option between OBC OR free gratuities, can I still use the OBC for gratuities? Doing the math out, I think gratuities is $12/day.. and it seems that the OBC is more. So a 7 day cruise is (12/day*7 days*2 people)=$168 vs $200 OBC. I think it is wiser to take the OBC.. Yes you can use your OBC to pay gratuities as long as you are not pre paying gratuities I.e. MTD as those have to be paid at final payment. oneputt18 Posted May 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2014 Only time you can't use obc for gratuities is if you sign up for MTD before boarding. Otherwise obc just comes off your bill which includes grats. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app

Then the math would work out in your favor. . . . and as previously mentioned this would not work with MTD.

We're (boyfriend and I) poor graduate students.. we wish we can do a suite.. but looks like we are getting an interior room for this cruise.. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted May 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2014 My Time Dining..... you eat in the same dining room but at a time to suit yourselves. If you want to use OBC to pay for gratuities you still can with MTD but will have to change from a set dining time to MTD once boarded.
