I am at home now (and there is a thunderstorm....) we had a beautiful ride back from Port Canaveral today ....the Sunshine was everything we expected it to be and SO much more....not one time EVER did I smell the smell people have talked about. We had the first cabin off the Lido Deck ... it was wonderful......we only went to the MDR one time and that was for brunch on Friday.....the food was not good ..... and it was MUCH to slow....we had already decided not to go to MDR for dinner....but this made us realize our thoughts were correct .... but this was fine with me because I don't like going to the MDR at all on any ship. There are SO many food options on the Sunshine.....we ate mainly at Guys Burgers which was 100% on taste!

I only went to a couple of the shows and the ones I did were great....chair hogging was awful .... and for the first cruise in the last 5 or 6 that I have been on they let you server your own bacon :)

I hope to write alot longer review and get some pictures on here for you ... if there is anything you want to know just ask ;)

Would I sail on the Sunshine again...without a doubt!!!!!!!!!

Did I love the new look of the ship....yes!!

Were there more food options than we had time to eat in a week...yes!

Just off the sunshine today as well and I agree. The service in the MDR was pretty slow. They were friendly but most the tables were eating dessert before we even had entrées! I guess not a huge deal since we had so much fun with our table mates, but definitely agree with you

This last cuise on the imagination I forgot my nice shoes... (don't ever pack drunk. My team had just got ousted by the Kings when they were up3-0so I was pissed and drunk. BAD COMBO! :)) Anyways... I lost my birth cert and had to miss my flight and go into oakland to get a new one. Luckily I caught the next flight and I was ok. Then I once i got on the ship to unpack and I see only one shoe

.. doh... I bought some black quicksilver shoes in one of the shops and I felt that was ok for the buffet. But didn't want to do the mdr in those. Now I did miss the creme brule and WCMC... but I would rather have an hour of my life back.

We're just back also and ate in the MDR almost every night, got great service and good food, sure they can get backed up, we had a table of 10 near us and they came in anywhere from a half hour to a hour late every night. Back in the day they used to shut the doors after about 15 minutes and no one else got in, maybe they need to go back to that. As for your shoes, don't worry about it, dress is getting so casual in the MDR it's crazy to even have a dress code. But we had a great time, wonderful weather, slight problem with the cabin but nothing that ruined a fun week.

I am glad to hear that we are not the only ones who do not eat in the MDR. I don't like to spend 1.5 hours, or more, eating a meal:)

I'm not a fan of long, drawn out meals either. Maybe once or twice during the week on the cruise but not every night.

Can't wait to board the Sunshine. I booked so long ago. It seems like it's taking forever to get here!!

Was the slow service in a particular area in the MDR such around the sides, or rear? It seems from observation, it maybe its just me that on most ships, the front and middle of the house always get served first, and the sides and rear last. I also don't like long drawn out meals. I prefer to get the next menu category as soon as possible from when Im finished the last, but I know this takes some time with the waiters serving other tables, and must take notice of when you're finished, while also trying to serve the entire table their category at the same time (there's always slow or fast eaters).

I love this idea!!! I'm always early or on time for dinner, but this would ensure all the slow pokes (including unnamed family members) were on time, and not holding up the entire table, or throwing off the waiters and table mates trying to determine if they were coming to dinner or not. If we're not eating in the MDR, we always let the staff, family and other table mates know the night before. If we see our waiter or asst. on the Lido, etc. during the day, we remind them also.

I had your time dining and sat in two completely different areas of the dining room. First was towards the back starboard corner by a window, service was painfully slow at 8:30pm, but at least the team was nice about things and thorough. Next was port side middle and that was both slow and I swear I was seated at a table that had an invisibility shield around it. After I was served some water I couldn't get anyone's attention to at least bring me a napkin. Not that I didn't try, there simply was no one in sight. definitely the oddest experience I've had in the MDR. After that I switched to the Market Place selections.

I agree about the late comers to MDR, it throws off the service to everyone and therefore creates a lot of extra delays for the ones that are seated on time. They should close the MDR doors no later than 15min after your seating time and if you are late, then go to the lido and eat the buffet. The servers work hard and if you think of the number of tables they all wait on it's amazing to me they are able to do as well as they do.

Ours was a 8 day cruise but the formal nights were first sea day(Sunday) and second sea day(Friday)

you threw me when I saw Sunday for 1st formal, then re-read & saw "first sea day"...for us, leaving 5/30 that would be Saturday:)

we enjoy the MDR experience, was hoping having so many varied dining options on board would draw off good portion of fellow cruisers & lessen the load in MDR;)

surprised to read of chair hogging. thought they were monitoring it better.

We just came off the same cruise as the OP and we had a slow team in the MDR the first night (Your time dining) but the next night we had a different team and they were smoking! We requested that team the rest of the week and always had a great pace through dinner. We were out in an hour most nights and that was with the hubby ordering three or four starters, and entree and dessert.

The platinum gift we received was the VIFP coffee mug. Yes it does have metal on it so it cannot be used in the microwave but it is still a nice looking mug (with a lid) and we had plenty of beach bags, coolers and tervis tumblers so at least it is something different. :)

Do you remember your servers name that got you in and out in an hour? For that matter if you had a table for two do you remember the table number. Thanks in advance.

we just got off this trip too. we had a great time. the shows were really good. one of the dancers is from a town near where I grew up. (nice surprise) the food we had was good. we were in the sunset dining room with the your time dining. it has its perks and some not as nice too. you don't get to know the waite staff as you would if you had them every meal. we never went for breakfast (except one morning) and never for lunch. I did see one of the waite staff that was on the glory in 2011. I did smell the smell one night but it was near the restrooms. I also heard a couple of people talking about it. everything was wonderful otherwise. I liked the serenity deck on the paradise better. it was so much quieter and not as windy. hubs spent most of his time in the casino. we had such a great time. I cant wait to take my next cruise. I did come home and got the flu very soon after we got home. so I went to look at the facebook site we had set up and found several others did as well. some of the others also developed a rash. not sure what it was from tho. did any of you get sick as well??

I was on this cruise with my young family of five and my parents, and we all had a great time. We had YTD in the Sunrise dining room. Our service was great. We always sat in the very back of the ship and usually arrived between 6:00 and 7:00. My favorite tables were 366 and 383: two different waiters, both great in their own way. Kris, from Hungary, was one of them. Can't remember the name of the other. We had brunch twice, and the service was very slow on the last sea day. We enjoyed the extra restaurants, including the steakhouse. I thought the buffet could have used some more variety.

The shows I saw were great. I really liked Epic Rock. We had no problems finding seats, and there always seemed to be some seats still available when the shows started.

I smelled the smell once on deck 1 as I was walking down the hall. Considering how many times I walked that hall, one short-lived incident was no big deal at all.

Our room steward, Adi from Indonesia, was great.

I'm sure I'll think of more useful comments to post, but that's it for now.

Thanks for sharing your fun experience. I didn't smell anything on Sunshine on my cruise either. That's a non-issue IMO and I can only imagine what the motivation of the people that posted that is.

Looking forward to your review.
