Ecuador Posted May 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2014 Is there much to do in Torshavn or should we book an excursion?

ilovhywd Posted June 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2014 When we were there, the weather in Torshavn was gray and rainy. We found a taxi to drive us around. After we crossed to the other side of a mountain, it was sunny and beautiful! The scenery was magnificent. Suggest you get out of the city and bring your camera! icsys Posted June 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2014 I hope your visits don't coincide with the annual Faroe Grind. That could be one excursion in the Faroe Islands you may want to avoid.... Search 'faroe islands grind' WARNING! you will see graphic pictures.
iHeartGlaciers Posted June 26, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 26, 2014 I can't decide whether to do the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs boat tour or a tour of the countryside. Any recommendations? Thanks!
moviefan2010 Posted June 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 27, 2014 Vestmania was very pretty though unfortunately I was there in late July when most of the birds were gone. One person got some pictures of two puffins but he had a great camera. Someone on the boat crew said many of the bird species had left about a week earlier. PeetNL Posted July 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 1, 2014 Torshavn has little to offer. But the island and the views are stunning. Last year we booked an excursion with: http://www.62n.fo/en/ We were in a small group in a large bus with a nice guide. The trip was very interesting and offered a nice lunch. See under "Cruise" for your ship (they actually adapt there excursion to the ships timetable).
