  1. Thanks for the replies. I'm not disputing that Military discounts have been available in the past. As stated I have had the discount applied to a cruise taken in Jan this year (Oasis) and applied to a sailing in October this year (booked last October). I am querying what I was informed yesterday, by two different agents. Both stated that Royal has stopped Military discounts for all new bookings moving forward. Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same recently, if this is misinformation or just UK only, which if confirmed is a little unfair.
  2. I have received Military discount on many past cruises, most recent being January of this year (2024) However, calling today to price two cruises I was informed, by two different agents, that Royal has stopped Military discounts for all cruises. Is this right?
  3. We just returned from Oasis as well. The singer was on night 2 and 3, night 4 was a movie!!
  4. EDIT... even Earl Turner appears to have been dropped from next weeks Oasis cruise. According to the app.. there is NO entertainment in the theater on night 2, 3 and 5
  5. Did you ever verify if the EU outlets charged devices faster than the USA ?
  6. The large ships may make lots of money but if their destinations continue to be limited their revenue will dry up. The constant drive to go 'bigger' is sure to have a negative impact at some point... There are many places now restricting cruise ships due to overtourism. These floating megaships have too many passengers which would cause overcrowding. Barcelona, Venice, and Marseille are among the cities that have already taken measures. Santorini has also tightened restrictions on cruise companies. We've been there when there have been four voyager-size ships in port and the streets were crazy busy. Protests in Norway may have an impact there too.
  7. One show in the Theatre on the last night, reservations not required.
  8. Earl Turner on for two nights in the theater??? Are Royal struggling to find headliners now??
  9. 25 years loyal.... and your reward for loyalty is more removal of benefits! I think they'd prefer it if less people turned up. Then they could cancel them citing "numbers declined so much it was pointless to continue to run them"
  10. It appears there are no longer any adult comedy shows in Blaze on Oasis. Blaze isn't even listed as a venue in the app, but appears to be used for afternoon movies and nightclub.
  11. I'm afraid we have to agree with you. It's extremely frustrating when you call in, then have to almost resort to arguing with the RC agent that what they are telling you is wrong! Clearly training is severely lacking when the customer knows more about the Ts&Cs than the agent!
  12. Its right at the front of the ship with cascading pools so no, nothing like the Serenade
  13. Yes - the Solarium The age has recently been inreased from 16+ to 18+
  14. That's because, unless we fly, we only have one port to sail from and one ship to choose from!
  15. Yep... entertainment is beginning to stagnate. ... 70s party thread is a case in point!
  16. Yep... the same track list played in virtually the same order on every ship we have been on! There are hundreds of tracks.... mix it up a little!!
  17. We have an Android device as well as the iPhone and don't get any pop-ups on that either?
  18. I don't get any pop-ups, maybe its a regional thing? If I did get them it would be MORE than frustrating as the card is not available outside the US
  19. The assistant waiter probably does as much, if not more, as the main waiter. Ask for a drink from the bar and its the assistant who brings it for you. Edit..... Then the penny drops..... 😴 πŸ˜€πŸ˜„
  20. Here is MY calculated breakdown based on this slip if it helps: SR Attendant : $3.05 (19%) Other Hotel : $7.00 (43.75%) Main Waiter : $3.05 (19%) Ass Waiter : $2.00 (12.5%) Head Waiter : $0.90 (5.75%) ---------------------------------------- Total per day : $16.00 (100%) The Main, Assistant and Head waiters combined at $5.95 is 37.25% of the total.
  21. Its not fabrication, Mick is technically correct. Its to do with exchange rates: We have pre paid gratuities on a cruise in January. The cost is Β£84 GBP At todays exchange rate (1GBP=1.23USD) it is $103 Divide that by seven and it equates to $14.74 per day.
  22. No one behind the scenes should depend on gratuities. Before autograts the behind the scenes staff were never tipped!, only the Cabin Steward, Main Waiter, Assistant waiter and the Head Waiter were tipped. And right there is the root of the problem! I'd say its the cruise lines who are screwing or stiffing their hard working staff.
