Baltimore Hotel

We're looking for a hotel the night before our cruise. I was just quoted $204 for the Cruise Package at the Holiday Inn Express at the Stadiums. We're also not opposed to a hotel that would allow us to park there for the week and arrange our own transportation (cab) or parking at the terminal. We aren't familiar enough with Baltimore to know where to start looking. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

For what it's worth, I did a Cruise Critic search for Baltimore hotels with stay/park specials this morning. I came up with a hint saying avoid the Russell St/stadium area as it is "sketchy at night". The posts were from the 2012/2013 date range. I wish I could link it here- but use the forum search tool for more info. The HI Express was what we were looking at and decided against it- so here I am searching again. I'm concerned about secure parking not at the cruise terminal, so we might just forget coming in the night before & drive to the pier the morning of (from NJ). I'll be doing more research & pass on anything else I see. Good luck.

Thanks for responding! I read that thread a few days ago and that's what prompted me to call the HIE today. The price jump is what has us looking for other options. I'm sure it's due to the casino opening. I guess this gives me something to do for the next 11 months. :D

We like staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in White Marsh. They have a cruise-n-park package which includes a shuttle to & from the port. Nice area (mostly businesses) with restaurants & a small shopping mall nearby to pick up last minute items.

You might want to look at the wingate bwi (wingatebwi.com) they offer a cruise package as well. If you all are flying in not sure where you are from or not it seemed like a good deal. If you stay one night which I assume would be night before cruise then the offer free breakfast and shuttle to and from the port. And if you are driving in its the same thing but they offer 10 free days of parking. Bwi airport is probably 20 minutes from port.

We've stayed at the Best Western in Elkridge, twice and are staying again the end of August. We book through Trinity Reservations(.com) and it inlcudes up to 14 days parking, breaksfast (not super fancy, but will hold you over till you board), and shuttle to and from the port (airport shuttle also available for free if needed). The current price we are paying is $99 TOTAL and is good for up to 4 guest in a room.

There is not really anything to walk to in the area, but there is a restaurant/pub in the parking lot. The food is good, we've eaten their both times. Plus if you have your car, there is this HUGE mall complex about 10 minutes away, with many options. There is also a casino.

They also have an indoor, pool which we've never used, but it looked nice.

We have also stayed here before. In fact, just reserved it again this morning for our cruise in April 2015. A very nice, clean, quiet place to stay. [emoji1][emoji106][emoji572]️

I just booked the Best Western Plus Hotel and Conference Center on recommendation from my roll call group. Also have up to 14 days free parking, free breakfast and shuttle to and from the port. I am paying 98.99, AARP rate.

This works well as we are coming in from LI and don't want to chance the traffic on I95 the day of the cruise. And it is cheaper than parking at the pier for 10 days.

If this is the one located on O'Donnell St. Good luck.

Truck stop across the street. Tracctor truck wash located on premises .

Low incone housing with police cameras mounted to the streetlights nearby.

Had a shooting at the now closed night club that was located in the closed bus depot at the hotel.

Really no place to walk to as there is nothing even close by.

No. Please. No.

It's NOT a nice area at all.....there is a REASON they have cheap rates and a cruise package..it's called THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS...

Stay up by White Marsh, or head over by the airport...the BW Elkridge seems to be a bit nicer and not in a truck stop/travel plaza/dumpy area...

Some of the other airport hotels may have cruise packages...but really do you want to wait for a shuttle? Parking at the pier is a very reasonable $15 per day..not 19 like in Cape Liberty or 40 in NYC...

Please change your reservation

You should reconsider this choice. Extremely sketchy area, worse than the HIE at the Stadiums.

I quite agree with Tony O and Meg. There is a reason this hotel is so cheap. I had friends that were staying there during a volleyball tournament in Baltimore. They only stayed one night out of the four they were there for. They had their cars broken into, sketchy characters hanging out around the area across the street, constant police presence including the camera's that Tony mentioned. I would not want to leave my car there for 1 day let alone 10 days.

There seems to be some confusion because there are at least 2 Best Western Plus hotels in the Baltimore area. It sounds like the one on O'Donnell St in Baltimore is in a busy, sketchy area.

The Best Western Plus Baltimore Washington Airport on Dorsey Rd. in Elkridge, MD is the nice one people are referring to. I have stayed there twice, booked through Trinity Reservation for a price less than paying for parking at the port. It is a quiet location and a nice hotel. It is not near downtown or the harbor, but they do have a shuttle service available. All the positive comments are about this hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend it or stay there again.

Thanks for the heads up all on the hotel. I have cancelled and will just book a room for the night and drive us to the port the next day.

Since you will cone down south in Int 95 look for hotels in the White Marsh MD area. There are located about 10 munutes north of the cruise port right off Interstate 95

I'm trying to book with Trinity Reservations and it says there isn't availability the dates we're looking for. Does anyone know how far in advance they open dates up? We're not looking until May of next year, but did a mock reservation for April 2015 with no problem.

I just tried doing a mock booking for the end of May 2015 via the BW website and got this message:

Best Western accepts reservations up to 50 weeks in advance. Please select a date within a 50-week window.

So, hopefully soon!! :)

One thing you may need to consider is what weekend in May next year the Preakness horse race is. If it's the weekend you are checking on there is a good possibility that hotel availability will be scarce that weekend.
