tuggers Posted August 5, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2005 Before. 45 minutes to one hour before sailaway, no maybe 30 minutes. You can't miss it, lots of people in orange running around!

Jeanne S Posted August 5, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2005 Lifeboat drills are always before sailaway unless you miss the drill and are asked to make it up the next day. They want you sober before the sailaway party and also need to comply with regulations.
rs2ndwife Posted August 23, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2005 During the drill, I was kind of "pushed" back by passengers in front of me at our life boat, and I rubbed up against a huge wench that had grease on it. I got it on my sweater, and was really bummed about it. Rs2ndwife

Pegleg1 Posted August 24, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Would you define what kind of wench????????? Too funny!! :D How "huge" was she? If there was grease involved, she must have just came from the kitchen, which of course would make her a "serving" wench! ;)
rs2ndwife Posted August 24, 2005 #12 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Alright, alright. Very funny. A divit then. You know, the big spool of cable found near the life boats? (Perhaps the term "winch" is used more often in smaller sailing vessels?) :) Sorry to hear you got grease on your shorts. If only I had been more quick to post... Have a good one, everybody! drfun48 Posted August 24, 2005 #14 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Anyone knows if the Muster drill is before or after sail away? At what time? :D Having been there -done that many times,we have devised a strategy. Go to the muster station early. Go to the back of the room, lounge, casino, etc and be the last to leave. By the time you get to the lifeboats the drill is frequently over or at worst, you're in front and not near those greasy wenches. You also are the first to leave and can start enjoying the cruise. rs2ndwife Posted August 25, 2005 #15 Share Posted August 25, 2005 Thanks for the tip - although I will probably want to attend the drill, I will hang back when everyone leaves from the muster station so as not to be the one in the very back next to the big greasy thing with the cable on it! :)
