Questions for Scubagirrl re: Party Boat Island, etc.

Hi,

If you want to go snorkling on the good part of Pearl Island, how do you get to that area from where the party boat docks and lets people off? Go straight, left, right? Near a certain part of the island? Since I've never been there, I'm not sure how to reach that area. All I know is it's across on the other side of the island and you have to go over rocks. Is there a place with steps? How deep is the water on that side of the island, esp. from the rocks. Is it a gradually grade or a drop off into the water?

Also, what do they serve at the grill? I've heard of conch fritters and want to try that. Do they serve those there? If not, where on the island (preferrably near the ship) would you recommend getting some of that? What does conch fritters usually cost?

Also, do you know if you can get into the Atlantis dig after hours for free? If so, what time would that be?

Thanks,

Janet

When you get off the boat, you head toward the Lighthouse, the gear rental is across the walkway from the lighthouse gift shop. There are rugged steps on the rocks outside the lighthouse leading to the water. You go from the rocks and coral to deep water..

There is also another spot to snorkel which is down the other end... past the sting rays.. the island is so small.. .you really can't miss seeing EVERYTHING..

As for the grill.. they serve hot dogs, burgers and chicken.. with salad, cole slaw, pasta salad. As well as fruity frozen drinks and beer at the bar.

For conch Fritters.. you'll have to get them in Nassau.. There's a restaurant called Conch Fritters that sell them.. as well as many other small places. Try the little cafe in the Prince George Plaza. or just as the locals near the dock where you can find some good bahamian style conch fritters.

Security at the DIGS leave after the dinner crowd.. I'd say around 8/9 pm
