tinkerbell1984 Posted June 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Right now I've got 7143 on a 24 hr hold...Forward/Starboard Other options are (considering they are still avail tomorrow): 5262 Port Aft which would save us $100 and 5237/5234 Starboard/Port and Obstructed view which would save us $240. We are going Vancouver around back to Seattle visiting Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm. I'm not sure if the obstructed view will be a waste in Alaska, esp with small kids who may have trouble seeing? I am also concerned, being on Deck 5, about smokers on the outer deck 3...I'm not sure which side that's allowed, looks like Starboard but I also could have neighbors, so......I also hear Starboard is best for the passage up and leaving Vancouver. So I dunno. This will possibly be once in a lifetime so I want it to be the best, but also want to save for excursions. Any advice appreciated, thanks! SadieN Posted June 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2014 If you're considering the Obstructed View balconies (cat 7A) look for one that's between the lifeboats. Avoid the ones behind the first three (taller) lifeboats. If you just want fresh air look at the Inside French Door (cat 4K). Obstructed by the lifeboats but the one between do have a bit of a view. serene56 Posted June 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) If this is for 2015--- what you see online is not all that is available. if you have 4 people in your party-- check out 6232 its the only kind of balcony on the ship that holds 4 people. http://travelingnuts.com/2011cruise/images/DSCN0188.JPG here is an obstructed balcony http://www.ucruiser.com/file/pic/gallery/3334_Obstructed-view-from-balcony-cabin-5181-on.jpg with little kids-- and alaska-- I would NOT be booking an obstructed balcony http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af232/frankp711/cruise%208-29-09/7aoutside.jpg cabins for 4 do not come between lifeboats also note that carnival allows smoking on all balconies-- not just one side Edited June 16, 2014 by serene56
