Rare MVPinBoynton Posted March 29, 2008 #26 Share Posted March 29, 2008 Mochuk, I can't imagine that expectations are only "met". In your lovely vibrant city I would expect everyone's expectations to be "exceeded". :)
notentirelynormal Posted March 30, 2008 #27 Share Posted March 30, 2008 It was a great visit with only one minor mishap. My mother's nebulizer blew up in the hotel. We ended up staying at the Great Southern Hotel in the heart of Chinatown (at least that's what we would call it in the US). While the hotel was older, it was more then adequate for us and we thought the location was great, couldn't be better. We all split up and did our own thing. We had hired KST to give us a little mini tour on the way from the ship to the hotel to make it a total 2 hour trip. The driver didn't want to do that because of the heavy load of our luggage so he dropped our luggage off and started the clock on the 2 hour trip then. Obviously he was not a tour guide but he did the best he could and by the end of the 2 hours was getting into being a guide. He gave us the city highlights and must have liked us because he was our driver when we made the trip back to the airport. Since we were close enough to Darling Harbor to walk we all did often. Being a holiday weekend was both good and bad. Bad was that some things that some wanted to see were closed. However, that also meant that there was some great entertainment going on and that definitely added to our enjoyment. We found a great restaurant for happy hour/dinner. We walked quite some distance to rent a car on Saturday only to find that there were none available until Tuesday. So we walked to the aquarium. Well worth the trip to that. Some took the train, some took the monorail. Being across from Paddy Square and the Market was great. Easy tourist (cheap t-shirt) shopping. Loved the city and people and glad we went. I'll do a total review later, but we're still settling back in. Going back to work the next day sure is tiring.
