Orcrone Posted June 16, 2004 #29 Share Posted June 16, 2004
quote:
Wasn't it about the cost of chicken tenders on deck, and the associated gratuity, and could you smoke in the line for the tender, and if they were formal tenders, would cut off jeans be okay? And was it possible to smuggle your own tenders into the Lido?

You can bring your own tenders into the Lido, and use HAL's or your own dipping sauce. However, if you bring your own you have to pay the $15.00 "dippage" fee, plus a 15% service charge. The maitre'd will store any left over sauce for your next day's chicken tenders. Of course, I hope you have the good taste not to bring your own chicken tenders to the Pinnacle. You should only have HAL's fried chicken there. 1/1990 - RCCL Song of America 4/13/2003 - Carnival Inspiration 10/30/2004 - Maasdam Till sailing on the Maasdam
tomc Posted June 16, 2004 #30 Share Posted June 16, 2004 You can't bring your own chicken tenders into the Pinnacle. On my last cruise, a woman tried to do that. They took them away from her and gave them back at the end of the meal, as she was leaving the restaurant. They were nice about it, and all, but they said it was company policy that it had to be bought on the ship. She smuggled them into the Lido the next day at lunch, in her pocketbook, and had them there. * * * Put "Cruise Critic" in e-mail subject line: tomcarten@hotmail.com
Orcrone Posted June 16, 2004 #31 Share Posted June 16, 2004 It's amazing what some people will do. I can understand why they're installing the poultry detectors at the entrance to the ships. It's a shame when a few bad apples ruin it for all (that's why I smuggle my own apples on board). 1/1990 - RCCL Song of America 4/13/2003 - Carnival Inspiration 10/30/2004 - Maasdam Till sailing on the Maasdam

jhannah Posted June 16, 2004 #33 Share Posted June 16, 2004 I heard one guy got put off at the next port because of his espresso machine. Since they charge for them now, he brought his own machine, beans, milk, sugar ... everything. He was able to get the machine through by having it in his checked luggage. What tipped them off was the cold water line he tapped from under the sink in the bathroom and ran through the cabin to connect to the brewer. (If he'd only used bottled water!) The ensuing leak flooded the internet cafe below and raised the ire of countless passengers. 'Vegas Jim
tomc Posted June 16, 2004 #34 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Didn't pre-tip the steward. I tell people all the time. If you're gonna do something like that, you gotta pre-tip the steward. "Here you go, Gunjan, a little something for not looking. There's more where this came from, ok? How do you say this in Indonesian, 'Mouth shut, more money'?" * * * Put "Cruise Critic" in e-mail subject line: tomcarten@hotmail.com
Orcrone Posted June 16, 2004 #35 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Jim, That's why I recommend that PAX either order a plumber ahead of time from ship services or bring their own. There's no fee for bringing your own plumber, as long as you don't use his services in the DR. 1/1990 - RCCL Song of America 4/13/2003 - Carnival Inspiration 10/30/2004 - Maasdam Till sailing on the Maasdam
