Taxi tours in Sydney Nova Scotia

Does anyone know if there are tours that can be arranged on shore in Sydney Nova Scotia. The cruise line tours don't seem that great and are very expensive. Are there taxis/vans waiting to take groups around?

There are only a couple private tour operators and they are in high demand. Renting a car is a very practical thing to do.

We were looking of just doing that, renting a car that is, but, we are there on a Sunday and according to the car rental websites they are all closed on Sundays. As a NS native do you know if this is correct.
