are we "condemned" to our room selection?

Recommended Posts

If you've read my earlier threads, you know how I ended up in the cabins I'm in. If not, the short version of a long story is that I lost control of my booking through my own fault and let a PVP screw it up. Anyway, we are pretty far forward in side by side rooms on the Empress deck (21 and 18 year old kids and DH and I).

Can I move to other 4D's? Sailing date is 8/3 and final payment has (obviously) already been made? I'd even be willing to move to a lower class but I think I read that's a no-no. Are there any options for me other than staying in the rooms we're already assigned to? It looks like the theater is above our room but we're night owls anyway; that will likely be quieter in the mornings, right? Eep.

woot! thanks!

and you don't have to have side by side rooms unless that is how you want it.

Minor Guest Policy

Guests are required to be 21 years of age (on embarkation day) to travel on their own. Guest ages will be verified at embarkation. Guests not conforming to this policy will result in denied boarding and no compensation will be provided at embarkation. The Group policy is slightly different because of stricter group terms and conditions including mandatory chaperones, damage deposits and other considerations.

Guests Under the Age of 21 MUST travel with a relative or guardian of 25 years of age or older

· The guardian does not need to be a legal guardian

· The bookings must be cross-referenced with the guardian’s stateroom and documented properly

· When minors (18 and under) are not traveling with a relative, we strongly recommend bringing an original signed letter from the absent parent/legal guardian authorizing the minor to travel.

Guests 12 and younger

· If the relative or guardian insists on booking separate staterooms, minors must either be directly across the hall or next door. Guests 12 and under may not be assigned to a balcony cabin without a relative or guardian.

Guests 13 - 17 years of age

· Can be booked up to 3 staterooms away from their relative or guardian.

Guests 18 – 20 years of age

· Do not have any restrictions and may book whatever location they prefer.

So. FWIW. We're condemned lol. There are no more 4D's and the rate has gone up so even to move to a 4C or B or A would actually cost more. Not our druthers of a cabin for sure, but hey, we're sailing. Pretty hard to be mad.

You may not be able to move....but you are NOT in bad cabins on the Empress deck....there are cabins both below and above all rooms on the Empress deck (that's the deck where all the suites are - and that is why). Don't feel "condemned" that is the best deck on the ship for quiet cabins......being far forward is another issue....but being on the Empress Deck, you hit the jackpot for quiet cabins.

We love Empress deck, especially forward. It's right by the lobby so easy to get a drink or ice if you need it. Close to casino and photos and shops. One floor up and go thru lobby is main dining room. Shows are just one floor up. It's also steps away from where you get on and off the ship as you embark and debarked from empress deck. The only walking you'll do us to go to things at the back of the ship like pool or serenity deck and buffet. But it's not far. And empress deck goes straight thru from front to back of ship.

don't know what ship you are on but Empress is the only deck we stay on. It's the best deck. Theater should not be right above you. Should be verandah with room. Then Lido. Theater is usually 3,4,5. Empress is 7.

We stayed on the Empress deck on the Paradise and were under the galley which did get a bit noisy a couple nights around 3AM but further forward shouldn't be bad. I really liked the location for convenience to everything and would not hesitate to book a Empress deck cabin again however I absolutely loved staying on the Lido deck on the Sunshine!! :)

FYI -- closer to your sailing date, when and if prices come down, Carnival just might let you upgrade.

We were 5 in an interior room booked through "3rd,4th,5th person sail free" promotion for our upcoming 4day Imagination West Coast cruise in July.

Then a few days ago, 21 yo "just graduated from college" daughter found out she can no longer go on cruise due to newly scheduled new job teacher training which is scheduled same time as our family cruise .. .. we can't get any money back even through its over 30 days until sailing (and according to contract should be able to get 50% back) because she's considered "free'.

I then notice that prices have come down and it is now less expensive to have both a "2 pp" ocean view AND "2 pp" interior cabin on a higher deck (eg Upper) than what we paid 3 months for our 5 person interior cabin on Main deck. I called Carnival to ask -- and was able to switch to two cabins just across the hallway from each other.

Did Carnival have to grant my request? No, esp since it was after final payment and I wasn't booked on Early saver.

But they did and now we have 2 cabins (ocean view and interior) instead of just an interior cabin for five, now interior cabin for four since daughter had to cancel.

So as your cruise gets closer, start looking for price drops. You wont get refunded the lesser price unless you booked early saver, but you might get upgraded to the deck you want.

Good luck.

If the op is on a fantasy class the there are no cabins above empress deck. With that said. I love empress deck on the fantasy class for location. Even if you are under the the theather the only time you may hear noise is during a show. Odds are you probably wont be in your room anyway during that time. Great part about being forward on empress deck is you will be very close to all the action, stairs, and elevators. So you will have easy acess to all the public areas of the ship. IMHO you have a great location. Especially for a fantasy class ship.
