bogforce Posted August 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2005 are the seas rougher going to bermuda than a carribbean cruise?
mphill1022 Posted August 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2005 yes--- we find the trip to Bermuda usually ( but ont always) significantly rougher than the caribbean)--- the worse part is usually off cape hattares, north carolina when the warmer waters of the south meet the atlantic
Fayecruises Posted August 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2005 It depends . When we sailed on the Zenith in October 1996 the waters were rough. But last month we sailed on the Voyager to Bermuda 7/10 and it was so mild, it felt and looked like a lake. Last year as I sailed up and back from NY and Baltimore to FL, the waters were very calm - in July - even near Hatteras. I remember thinking - I wonder if it was the calm before the storm and then well the hurricanes appeared.
Janet524 Posted August 11, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2005 The seas are no rougher going to Bermuda than to any place else. Naturally, weather conditions will affect the seas.
Jeanne S Posted August 12, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2005 The seas are no rougher going to Bermuda than to any place else. Naturally, weather conditions will affect the seas. The North Atlantic can be notoriously rough, while the Caribbean is known for its relatively calm seas.
WaldosPepper Posted August 13, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2005 The North Atlantic can be notoriously rough, while the Caribbean is known for its relatively calm seas. But Bermuda is nowhere near the North Atlantic, nor are any of the home ports of any of the ships that sail to Bermuda.
Dolphins Posted August 13, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2005 The North Atlantic can be notoriously rough, while the Caribbean is known for its relatively calm seas. Bermuda is not in the North Atlantic. You only have one full sea day which can be calm or rough and you are then in Bermuda. The Caribbean has far more hurricanes than the ocean around Bermuda. moai Posted August 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2005 We just came back today and I was also concerned about cruising down the Atlantic, but we couldn't have had a better ride, it was like glass.
Surfgirl Posted August 14, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2005 I guess I'm the only one... but I love to feel as if I'm at sea. It's boring when it's calm the entire trip. I love the rockin' and rollin'. I especially like it at night because it rocks me to sleep (I have terrible insomnia!)
e.durban Posted August 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 14, 2005 As I understand it, the North Atlantic is any part of the Atlantic above the equator. Below the equator is the South Atlantic.
