My Granddaughter and I just returned from a Fantasy cruise, and one of the girls from her graduating class was on the Fantasy also. But, having a stranger (I thought) stop me and say, "its nice to see someone from home." Turned out he was the manager of the Honda dealer where I take my car, and he remembered me and my car.

Anybody have other stories about running into people they know?

Twice on 2 different cruises. One was to Mexico - he was a bagger at the grocery store I shop at. The other was on our last cruise. I met DH at the YMCA in 1968. The photographer for the YMCA (who also posts on the Princess board at CC), was on the ship. When I put 2 and 2 together it was really a trip seeing him 46 years later!

We were on a Disney cruise for spring break and as we are standing in the buffet line, my daughter says Hey casually to a kid walking by. When I asked, she said it was a kid from her class. OMG!!! She didn't understand that this was a big deal and how far we were from home. We found the kid later and made them pose for a picture together with the Nassau lighthouse in the background. Their teacher loved it. I guess kids really don't talk much at school!

I live in a VERY small village in the Adirondacks NY (less than 1000 people). Years ago on the Sensation, we were looking through photographers photos and my 12 yr old daughter said "that looks like Mr T---." We all agreed it kind of did. Next night at formal night, who comes out of the dining room, but Mr T---!! Every time I run into him, we mention again about what a small world!!

We were on the Dream on June 8th and ran into my last boss(I retired in 2008 from Fed Ex), and we did not get along very well. Then my wife ran into someone from her work that had come to our house to work on our home computer. Dennis

My parents ran into my aunt and uncle (dad's sister) on a HAL cruise. They had no idea they were on the same cruise. My parents were thrilled. Aunt and uncle not so much. LOL

I have run into someone I know on a ship, and in the end, it was a nightmare!!!!

Me, and two friends were on John Heald's Blogger's cruise #4 on the Glory in February 2011. We were having a blast. We went to Atlantis to see the aquarium and made a stop in the casino to drop a few bucks. It was taking a while for a friend to cash out, when someone noticed me.....It was a gal I went to school with and she had this psychotic obsession with my brother. She even said her oldest child was my brothers when the dates didn't match up and most importantly, the paternity test proved 100% that the kid wasn't his. She was still beyond obsessed and NEVER gave up and insisted the paternity test was wrong.....OK, so I am nice and she's all nice blah blah blah. We leave and go back to the ship. I ran into her again in the big theater before John did his Marriage Show and she bought me a drink and we started chatting a few minutes before the show. Needless to say, after a couple of minutes and all the gossip from the old 'hood was done and she said she was getting a divorce, my niece, the paternity test (now she was hoping a DNA would be done) rant started I QUICKLY shifted the conversation to the END of the cruise (I knew this was going to be a wee bit of trouble, but if I approached, aka diverted, things right all would be well for the rest of the cruise) and asked when they flew home and suggested a post cruise excursion. We agreed to meet for lunch the next day, but she crashed for a nap and missed it, so after 15 mintues I gave up a little annoyed (my friends went to the dining room for sea day lunch) and relieved...

I never saw them again until the last sea day when her eldest child (the one who proven NOT to be my niece) literally AMBUSHED me and my friend in the buffet line at the back of the ship (it was Chocolate buffet day so we got out meal first then went into the choco buffet line). As my friend later told me I looked like a deer staring at headlights coming at me. All I could reply to her was Uhm, ya, uh-huh, and then after a minute or two PROUFOUNDLY suggested that she go check out the chocolate buffet at the other side.....ooooh, very damning and profound.....

Well, I did mention on my call home that I did run into her and her kids/mom on the ship. I didn't go into much cuz $7 a minute is a lot and it was a quick "Everything good at home, yup, ok, cats me, Yup, ok, bye!" phone call. I came home and the next morning (got in at midnight) I told my mom all about it, and literally, I mean literally even before we got off the ship this psycho beach was already saying I had said this, that, and more.....Naturally my brother/wench in law was on the phone with my mom all freaked out, but I told her that I ran into them three times and the only thing I said was to book a post cruise excursion cuz of a late flight and to go check out the chocolate buffet.......Ya, my moronic brother was mad at me and NEVER asked me what I said...no, not even once......My mom told him what I said, but never believed her....Good grief....

Honestly, I had a great time on the cruise, but normally after the cruise I am still on a bit of a cruise high with what I did and blah blah blah, but that cruise all I could do was defend myself and what I said...this psych beach was truly in need of some help mentally because if she can lie like that it is truly sick and she should realize she needs help. I added her daughter as FB friend and before unfriending her the next day I left a comment about getting the BLEEPing story straight and to stop telling lies!

The next time I see her in Walmart, or anywhere she is going to get an earful from me and some advice to get psychological help!

Amazingly it has happened to me on at least 10 cruises. Seen folks that I work with, or worked with. People from high school (and I graduated 25 years ago) and the most amazing one I met the sister of a former co-worker at muster drill and we figured out we knew someone in common. I think when we have the time to relax and just speak to folks it is incredible what we notice and who we see.

Happens to us alot too! Best one was last spring break on the Breeze. We ran into 3 of our neighbors and one of my sons basketball/baseball coach! 1 family lives on our street! Apparently the kids had talked about it at the busstop, but didn't think it was a big deal..lol. I wish I would have known, we all drove from atl to Miami. A carpool would have been nice!!

How's this for a coincidence...? I ran into a mother and daughter team on the Carnival Victory in April 2009. I had originally met them on a July 2008 cruise on the Carnival Freedom when taking a Mediterranean cruise.

It was really funny--- we got to know each other on the 2008 Mediterranean cruise when I kept seeing them on my same tours. I had booked all my tours before leaving the states. So had they... By the time we got to the third port we started hanging out ;). I always ended up sitting behind them! We had booked the exact same tours.

We did this in Naples, Venice, Dubrovnik, Barcelona, and Cannes.

Imagine my surprise when I sailed on the Victory a year later and took a Barbados tour and sat behind two people who "looked familiar". How's that for a coincidence?

A couple years ago we had our neighbors walk over to us sitting in the Comedy Club. We had been seated beside them all evening and they happened to look over and see us. What a surprise! We never saw them the rest of the cruise!

Yes! Last summer we were on the Splendor, and walking through the Lido before we even left the dock, my husband's work partner was sitting there with his family. They still work in the same building for the same NYC agency, but at different times of day, so they rarely see each other anymore and since they moved about an hour away from us and his kids are much older than ours, we don't get together anymore.

Out of 6 cruises I have seen someone I know on 2. The 1st time was a guy I grew up with (his sisters & I are were great friends) and hadn't seen him in over 25 years - he was with his wife. The 2nd time I saw a couple of people from the elementary school my boys had went to. Been a few years since we had seen each other (my boys are in college now).

Was walking in Nassau and saw a girl that I used to work with. We sail from Norfolk and there are usually a bunch of local people on board and have known a couple people on 3 different trips that I had no idea were going on the same cruise.

Nobody I PERSONALLY knew, but when we were on the Pride in 2012, I saw a guy wearing a volunteer fire t-shirt from our town.

I approached him, and sure enough, he was from CT, and our hometown.

Thought that was pretty cool.:D

Last cruise we ate lunch in the dining room for the first time ever and ended up seated with people from our church. Not people we were friends with or knew really, but it was a bit awkward.

We've had odd meetings with people like that in the past but not cruising. Ran into multiple families we knew at Disney a few years back, it was starting to get a bit freaky...LOL

I've had a patient come up to me on Lido explaining why she was on the cruise since she never pays her bills...

I was seated at a table in the MDR with a former patient and her boyfriend who was at least 20 years older than she. He started sneezing over and over and over. I handed him a napkin which he didn't use, just kept sneezing. It was awful! "Too much pepper," he said. I changed tables.

On a roll call another couple and I chose to do an excursion in Roatan together. In the van we started talking about where we lived--they had lived a block away from me in a small neighborhood in a huge subdivision, and knew my kids!

On the Miracle Panama Canal Cruise, we were sitting at breakfast in the MDR, the table behind us was chatting, one of them mentioned a Catholic Church and city. As they were leaving I said are you from **** turns out their daughter and our son, were in pre-school together, they moved away a few years later than we moved away. Had not seen each other in 32 years we all often wondered where each moved to and how the kids were doing.

Many times we run into crew members usually every few cruises we see crew members.
