We have met up with people we know on several cruises. We have met people we know at a restaurant in San Juan and one in Nassau. On our Alaskan cruise last summer our first day at sea we attended a wine tasting and were seated next to a couple who after talking to we discovered the wife was our Pastor's sister. It really is a small world.

This has happened to me on two cruises. The first time was a coworker traveling with her family. She spotted me during embarkation while waiting in the terminal to board. I never saw her again till near the end of the cruise when we had lunch around the pool. The second time a family from my church saw me the second morning when I was reading on deck. The ship was so large that I only saw them a couple of times the entire week. It was nice to know there was someone from home on the ship!

We ran into my mom's former boss on a cruise once. It was weird!

Last cruise, my great aunt and her boyfriend just happened to book a last minute cruise on a different line that was leaving the same day as us. But they ended up being in Belize on the same day. We met them for a drink :)

When we cruised to St Thomas we went to Magen's Bay and a co-worker that I didn't know well at the time came up to me and said oh my god hi! It took me a good couple of minutes to figure out who she was - I wasn't used to seeing her in a bathing suit, hair up, and sunglasses! I thought it was such a small world that we were both at Magen's Bay just for the day. We laugh about how I had no idea who she was all the time now!

We were in Malaga, Spain on our Legend cruise last June. We were huffing and puffing our way up the long, steep, path to the fort/castle on the top of the hill overlooking the city.

I was lagging behind and called ahead to DH.. "Hang on, Sloopy, I need a minute!" From the path below us we heard "O-H-I-O! Go, Buckeyes!"

We live in Cincinnati; "Hang On Sloopy" is a staple of Ohio State football games. How we happened to be on the other side of the world, and run into someone from home, we'll never know.

We'd spent a lot of time in the casino aboard the Legend in the Med in June of 2013. In May of 2014, aboard the Glory out of Miami... are three of the casino dealers/ supervisors from the Legend, plus two bar tenders.

They recognized us right away. Funny, they must also have remembered that we tip generously, because our free drink card came pretty darn quickly.

I am from a small town in Oregon of 10,000 people and ran into someone I went to school with in Cabo. She wasn't on the cruise but I was just walking through the port and I hear someone call my name and it was her. It was pretty crazy, honestly I hardly run into anyone from Oregon let alone my home town and someone I know.

Last August, when we were on the Triumph, DH became sort of a minor celebrity after being asked to shake his booty during the Welcome Aboard show. Everywhere we went on the ship, people asked him to shake it and he would gladly oblige.

On our most recent cruise, I don't think we'd been on the boat more than an hour when I heard somebody whisper.

"Dude..Don't point! DON"T POINT! Stop..."

DH and I turned around. There was a rather embarrassed looking woman dragging her husband away.

"Sorry. We were on with you last year and you were the guy who shook his butt, I think. Right?" she asked and DH was like, "Well, yeah. HI!" as they walked away. It was kind of funny.

Before our cruise last February my wife had felt so guilty that she didn't get to se her favorite uncle that had just had surgery to remove fluid from his brain the week before. They live three hours away and it just didn't work out. See where this is going?

After our cruise on the Carnival Valor on we had some time before our flight so we explored Old San Juan for a few more hours instead of setting in the airport. My wife and daughter were off taking pictures son-in-law and I just setting in the square when my daughter runs up telling us "Sally is over there". We thought she had lost her mind the only Sally we know is the wife of my DWs uncle. Turns out he was there with her exploring old San Juan before they got on the Carnival Valor later that morning. He was still using a cane to get around and showed us the staples running down the top of his head those were getting taken out after they got back. Needless to say my wife was in tears. We knew they had a cruise coming up he was pushing to make but they always cruise out of NOLA or FLL never had a idea they were cruising out of San Juan.

On our first cruise out of Miami on the Destiny, on the last day pulling into port, a friend and I were standing on the Lido Deck watching the ship come in. We were talking about how much warmer it was in Miami compared to what it would be like back in Michigan when we get home. A guy standing next to us ask what part of Michigan we were from. When I told him, he started laughing. He lived in the town next to ours which is only about seven miles away.

This has happened to us a few times, two times happened on the last cruise. We were on the beach in Nassau and my son's football coach and his family were there too. They were on a different ship, but we were pretty surprised to see someone we knew on the beach.

My job is to investigate daycare fraud with the state. On our last cruise we ran into a daycare owner I was investigating. First we saw the owner in the parking lot, then the owner was sitting at the VIP checkin desk next to us, then we saw them several times over the next few days. Awkward!

My team at work is split between 2 locations. I work in our Columbus, OH office while the other half works in Orlando, FL. On my last cruise I ran into one of my collegies from the Florida office. We had no idea we were both going on the same ship.

In November of 2003 me and my family were on the Carnival Triumph. One of our group "volunteered" my exDW to be in the Survivor Contest! She told our Assistant CD Noonan that she couldn't swim. He said No problem it's not that deep, and ther's only one part of the contest in the water. Well she entered ( pictures below) and came in second. Well the video was shown on the ships TV for all to see the rest of the January of 2004 and my exDW & I were at a High School Basketball game Near Des Moines IA. At halftime my exDW was in the bathroom and a lady attending from the other school our team was playing approached her and said " Weren't you in the Survivor Contest on the Triumph in November?" My red faced exDW of course said yes. Pictures below

Had a former coworker who I didn't really care for seated at the table next to us one night on one cruise. Fortunately it was a short cruise and we were only in the MDR that one night.
