Post cruise Seattle Excursion

Recommended Posts

I'd love to hear from anyone who took the Chihuly and Space Needle Excursion with airport drop off after disembarking the Solstice on an Alaskan cruise. We are considering this shore excursion since our flight is at 2:10 but would like some more information on how it works. This would free up our pre-cruise day in Seattle so we could do other things.

You'll get more feedback if you post a link to the vendor and the tour. You might also try the Seattle forum of tripadvisor for feedback.

Any reason why you couldn't do it DIY ?

- check out of your hotel, leave your bags with the desk

- take the monorail or taxi to the Seattle Center.

- sightsee until 11am,

- return to the hotel, collect your bags and take a cab to Seatac. Leave no later than 11:30. All taxis are a flat rate from downtown,$40

Seatac can be very busy on weekends. There are usually 3 TSA lines open and you can use ANY of them, not just the one assocuated with your gate. So if one line is really long, send someone else to check out the other lines.

p.s. The Chihuly exhibit is incredible! Get there early so you can spend at least 2 hrs there.

Haven't taken the tour (we always drive or train home from Seattle), but as a general rule if you have the option of both pre- & post-cruise for a visit to the needle (or any other attraction for which the view from the top is the main thing) have two plans arranged for good weather & bad. If the weather is clear pre-cruise, get thee to the tower! Summer in Seattle is much drier than the stereotype, but there's still a decent chance of clouds & rain at any time in cruise season... you pay the same price, you may as well try to get your money's worth from the view (and if done pre-cruise, you may have the viable option to get a Day/Night ticket and come back after dark rather than only being able to visit in the morning post-cruise).
