Time from Port to Int'l waters (LA/LB)

Hello all,

I was curious if anyone has kept track of how long it takes from either the Port of LA or Long Beach to reach international waters?

Also, for those that have done those Carnival 4 day itineraries where Catalina is the first port of call, was there any difference?

Done this itin too many times to count.

Usually there is no sales tax around an hour after sailing. Casino/shops usually open about two hours after sailing. The $10 store on the Inspiration had different (sometimes later) opening hours.

We usually do early (6pm) or ATD. No sales tax on liquor when we order in the MDR and by the time we are done the Casino is open.

Makes no difference what the itin is out of Long Beach or San Pedro.

All the ships go outside the channel and usually do lazy patterns in the ocean until it is time to anchor off of Catalina. Princess does about 125 miles and Carnival does a little less.
