Rare Copper10-8 Posted June 29, 2014 #201 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Still seems pretty fast to me, is that a normal speed thru that area? Now at 22.5 kn. I show her at 20.7 knots still on the U.S. side of the Strait

Just looked at Cruise Tracker and she is headed for Pt Angeles and she is down to 11 knots - definitely slowing.

momthecruisedirector Posted June 29, 2014 #210 Share Posted June 29, 2014 How 'lucky' that there was no Holland America ship scheduled out of Seattle today so there was port space available this morning next to the Grand Princess! I had to research, thought it was strange only one ship there today!
Rare Vict0riann Posted June 29, 2014 #211 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) I guess I missed her again! It's a kind of funny day here, the mountains are shrouded in clouds, and there is a low-lying mist on the water that obscures my view from here. I have seen some shipping, but it's been container ships heading for Vancouver, on our side of the straits. Even with the binocs I didn't see her. Oh, well. PS Do you think she was going so fast to test that everything was okay in the boiler room? Edited June 29, 2014 by Vict0riann

Rare Vict0riann Posted June 29, 2014 #214 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Are you able to see her when she's still on the U.S. side of the Strait? It's quite far away, but I thought I might get a glimpse. No such luck! Here's the pilot boat we had in Port Blair, Andaman Islands, India: Not quite up to US standards, I would think. LOL

Rare Vict0riann Posted June 29, 2014 #216 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) If you enlarge that vessel finder, we're just about where the "k" is in Oak Bay, I think. I should still be able to see her, but I can't. I'll try the binoculars again. No luck. There may be a hill in the way. Lizzie68 Posted June 29, 2014 #217 Share Posted June 29, 2014 She's well into Canadian waters now (and the casino can open:D) but would I be right in thinking it looks like she is heading up the outside of Vancouver Island?
Rare Vict0riann Posted June 29, 2014 #218 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I don't think Westerdam does the Inside Passage, Marco's Tia.
Lizzie68 Posted June 29, 2014 #219 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I don't think Westerdam does the Inside Passage, Marco's Tia. Thanks, I didn't know that. So the visual on the map is accurate then, with the "pointy end" of the arrow heading to the outside of the island. Terrific website, lots of good info. jer_l Posted June 29, 2014 #223 Share Posted June 29, 2014 We disembarked yesterday' from the Westerdam and are staying with family for a few days We were quite surprised to see her sailing by Edmonds today so I came here when we got back to the house to find out what happened. As much as I would hate to miss Sitka it seems that HAL is being quite fair with compensation.
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 29, 2014 #224 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Westerdam going to Glacier Bay NP on Tuesday, then Juneau instead of Sitka on Wed. The rest of the Scheduled ports are the same. Earlier today I was checking the Juneau schedule for the next couple of days. Had she gone there on Monday -- it would have been very crowded -- besides the Westerdam, the Zuiderdam, Soltice, Golden Princess and Regatta are scheduled. On Wednesday the Crown Princess, Grand Princess and Statendam are scheduled when the Westerdam will now be there.
