Breeze vs. Sunshine? East. Caribbean in Nov.

Recommended Posts

Looking to take our 1st Carnival cruise this Nov.

We've sailed RCCL once back in 2006 and Disney twice. We're booked on the Disney Magic for this Nov. but our budget is so tight we may need to switch to Carnival.

Passengers: Kids ages 15, 12 and 7.

Hubby and me, celebrating my 40th birthday.

Can anyone compare the 2 for us? Thanks!

I've been on both this year. Breeze is my favorite and Sunshine my second favorite.

Breeze has the Thrill Theater. Your kids may enjoy that. I sure did and I'm 62 years old. It's a 4D theater with shows about 20 minutes long. The chairs move, water squirts at you among other things.

On Breeze's deck five there is a walkway all the way around the ship. There are chairs to lay out and hot tubs on that deck as well.

Sunshine has the Alchemy bar and Breeze does not.

Breeze also does not have a sports bar. They consider their sports bar an area in the casino.

I see the new ncl getaway sails then and is much cheaper...thoughts?

Definitely take the NCL Getaway!!! I would take that over either Sunshine or Breeze, both of which have bad shows in the theater. All 3 ships have great waterparks, but Getaway's looks amazing! I have been on Carnival's newest 3 ships (Sunshine is not one of them since it was built in 1996), and I would take the Magic or Dream over the Breeze, and I have no interest in the Sunshine. I enjoy the same fun activities that kids typically enjoy, but I also like a good show at night. You don't get both with Sunshine or Breeze. You do with Getaway.

In regards to service & food, I'm pretty easy to please. I was just as happy with Breeze as with all my other ships. I've only sailed with kids 1 time, and they were high school seniors, & never went to the teen club, so no experiences from me there.

So I priced out ncl Getaway and Carnival Breeze and they almost cost the same for 2 cabins.

Which is better? we do not want to pay extra for upscale dining! We want to eat in the MDR.

I'll bump this to try to help you. I have not sailed on the Getaway. I was basing my suggestion on my research of the ship, compared to my experience on the Breeze, and what I enjoy. I'm easy to please when it comes to food, so the free food with Getaway would be just fine for me (I think). But people who are more of a "foodie" may get caught having to pay extra with NCL. NCL's included food has gotten mixed reviews over the years, but there are plenty that like it or say it's good enough. The Getaway just looks like a state of the art ship with amazing entertainment, while the Breeze has poor entertainment, standard Carnival layout, & bland decor (although many people like bland).
