Vancouver before and after cruise

Hi, we are in Vancouver the day before and a full day after our cruise at the end of this month. Questions are, would we be better off saving the Aquarium for our full day when we get off the ship? We plan to go to Granville Island this day after we check in at the Fairmount (at the pier). We loved Stanley Park area last time and hope to do this after we check in on the Monday before the cruise. We are supposed to be in around noon would we be able to walk to any or all of these areas.

It would be about a 15 block walk from your hotel to the Granville Island ferry at the foot of Hornby Street.

 

As for Stanley Park - the seawall starts across the street from your hotel - you could walk to the Park and a Aquarium - it is basically level - really depends on how much you want to walk - otherwise grab the #19 bus on Pender Street and take it into the Park.

Stanley Park is walkable from the Fairmont Waterfront if you are comfortable walking more than a few miles a day and the weather is good. I would leave more time for Stanley Park and the Aquarium than Granville island. There are also interesting shops and restaurants on Denman and Robson streets on your way back.

 

If you are fit and enjoy walking then Granville Island is doable too. You can catch the small foot ferries at the south foot of Hornby Street for the last part of the trip there. http://www.aquabus.com

 

City buses can be used for both Stanley Park and Granville Island if you would rather not walk there and/or back.

Thank you so very much. Looks like after we check in we can walk around Stanley Park area, weather permitting. Then with a full day on our return do the Aquairum and Island. Vancouver was so wonderful last time we were there, if it is only half as nice it will be great. May be we should have added 2 days at the end and went back to Victoria as well. Oh well 20/20, excuse to head back that way in 2016 or 17 :).

There is a boutique hotel right on Granville Island. You mighty consider spending one night at that hotel. Everything on Granville Island is a very short walk from the hotel. I would pick the half day stay to be down their.
