Vision of the seas bad????

Recommended Posts

I'm going for Christmas 2015 with a surprise for my just turned 18 year old niece who has never cruised.

What are all the bad things? Do I need to cancel? Things for 18 year olds?

This is getting ridiculous!

Jane, you are so right. We were on the Vision in May and had a wonderful time. The ship was beautiful, the food good and really enjoyed the ports of call. I don't understand where all this talk about the the Vision is coming from.

Thank you! This is all so sad to me. Vision is a lovely ship with a fantastic crew. Excited to be boarding in two weeks!

Rah Rah ! Nah !

Hey I don't recall anybody saying it was a dirty filthy ship but just people saying bad bar service, and some staff issues and my observation that it is not what I think Royal stands for, or least what they used to stand for. I didn't have a bad time, any cruise is a good time.

We are sailing to Bermuda on the Vision on September 1st and are really looking forward to it.

The Itinerary is great and we have never been to Bermuda. Judith has never been to Nassau so that will be a first for her.

Being smaller and older than the Oasis and Allure, the Vision doesn't have all of the nifty big activity, entertainment, dining, and bar options.

The Vision is for cruisers who know how to make friends, have fun, and entertain themselves.

I don't want the mega ship big activity, and we did make several new friends, we had a very good time, especially RCL sponsored excursion..

Just sayin the service was not what Royal had given us before. What are people saying that is "ridiculous" ?

Maybe the OP's title which included "bad ship" was not the best way to phrase it, but I haven't really seen any recent posts saying its a bad ship.

Tell the O.P. What your favorite part of the ship or service is that makes it a good ship and then they can take good comments and compare with the other comments.

Cruises are what you make of them. The only reason I rescheduled mine to the Oasis is because I'm scared if I don't have a WOW!! experience on my first cruise with my boyfriend, he'll swear off of them forever. I've heard negative comments on bar service and the last review said that their cabin smelled like mildew, which is a little bizarre to me because they just did a refurb. Vision is one of my parent's favorite ships and I'm a little bummed for the lack of itinerary on the Oasis, but I'm just a girl with a soft spot for the bigger ships. If you go on the ship with a bad attitude, you might not have as great of a time as if you go on expecting to have a blast.

Hope your cruise is great!

on the june 9th cruise, we had a good time, met nice people, went to good ports, gained a few pounds. but, this cruise was just not the caliber we have become used to on other rc ships and especially other lines. you can be disappointed without letting it ruin your vacation.

Two years ago, before the refit, we did 28 nights on the vision. Two B-2-B Panama Canal Transits. WOW! We had a great time!

The only "bad" thing was the ship's WiFi and Internet connections were terrible. Especially when we were in the Pacific. The ship's staff knew there was a problem and did their best but the equipment was not up to the task.

Here is a link to the live post I did.

We were also on the 6/9 cruise and I have posted my review.

I have really mixed emotions on the Vision. The people we met were wonderful. We had an ocean view room and did not have a frig. This was the first cruise that did not have one in the room. Our steward was great at keeping ice in our room.

You could tell it was an older ship that had a rehab by the way the stateroom doors were not recessed.

I'm not sure if I would sail on her again; it would depend on destination and price.

Have you noticed that the map has misplaced Coco and Nassau. They are way down next to St Thomas and St Maarten. Hope the captain doesn't get lost in September trying to find them.

We did the June run to Bermuda and Capt. Liz was able to find both Coco and Nassau; our itinerary map was the same as yours. However, she will be on vacation in September and Capt. Ban is going to the Quantum so a brand new captain (to the Vision) will be steering the ship.

We have done three sailings on the Vision this year and enjoyed every minute on her. We have four more booked before years end.

I didn't mean to make a ridiculous post. I honestly just heard "vision is bad" over and over without knowing why.

Won't be at bar or casino. I like just sitting on deck Reading a book, I like trivia games, dance parties, good good (subjective), fun shows, greT ports. I was on Disney magic considered old and small and it has been my favorite cruise.

Again I didn't mean to make a ridiculous post but wanted to go to the source and find answers

Gumbypee your post was not ridiculous at all. One would have to be blind not to notice the many not so good reviews Vision is getting lately. There are more bad reviews then good ones.

The biggest negative I have been reading and was told on Vision is staff and service (Bars and Main Dining Room)

However two people can be on the same cruise and one can get excellent service and the next not so good. They would return with one cruiser having an excellent cruise and the other not good cruise.

Cruiselines including Royal have been cutting back staff. More then ever now they are running around trying to stay on track with their duties.

From what your interests are....Dance parties, Trivia, shows, reading...Vision will deliver.

Sorry....I didn't mean that your post was ridiculous at all. I guess, after so many threads of Vision bashing....it was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I apologize. You have a very legitimate concern.

It's just that every ship has issues. We even have some issues with Vision. I guess we have been cruising for so long, that we don't notice a lot of things any more. We don't need all the bells and whistles. We cruise to totally relax. These smaller ships are notfor everyone. But even with the issues we have with Vision....I'm not going to bash the whole ship and cancel my reservations. (Or maybe I will! We'll see after these next two cruises.....watch for the review the first week of August.). At any rate.....getting ready to print out the Set Sail Passes and pack the suitcases. Can't wait to get back on board.

Looking forward to your review, Jane! I can tell how much you love cruising and we have a Vision 9 day booked in 2015 that we are really looking forward to. Thanks for sharing the photos and information you do.

Looking forward to reading your review of the Vision. I am going on the Sept 1st cruise to Bermuda with my dh & friends and I'm anxious to get your take on this ship. I've read previous reviews you posted and really enjoyed them.
