A question for NOLA residents

DH and I will be in NOLA over Easter of 2015. We wondered if it will be business as usual (Ho Ho bus, restaurants, bars, tours) or if we will experience a shutdown for the holiday? Is there a recommended spot for Easter Brunch? We will be staying in the FQ. Thanks in advance...Julie

I can't say for sure about the tour buses, but I do not see why they would not be operating as usual. The restaurants definitely will. I'm not are if you'll be in town on Good Friday, but if you are, most restaurants will be having special "Lenten Menus" heavily featuring seafood, and there may be very long waits at popular seafood restaurants. There is usually an Easter Parade in the French Quarter, so some streets may be blocked as it passes. But other than that, things are most definitely business as usual.

If you are planning to attend services at any of the churches, they will be quite full, so bear that in mind And most definitely if you are going out for Easter Brunch you will most definitely need to make reservations at whatever restaurant you choose.

New Orleans never shuts down.

We party on Christmas at 3am here.

Easter Brunch is great at Commander's someone said Muriel's I love Muriel's and Chef Martin is a great chef, just haven't tried the Easter brunch there yet. They have one of the best locations in the entire city though as far as being in the middle of it all.

Thanks for the restaurant suggestions...I have looked up the brunches in town. Can I just say I am not in Kansas anymore? Our brunches consist of rows of food, both breakfast and main entree courses, carving stations, omelette stations, pasta stations, dessert stations, breads...and most importantly, all you can drink sparkling wine...for a low price of 25-30 dollars per person. Nevertheless...I think it will be lovely to be eating brunch in NOLA on Easter...better start saving up.

Brunches at the fancier places are going to be in the $50 - $75 price range per person, but you will find some less expensive. I would check all of the hotels, too. Harrah's casino should have something, too. Check http://www.nomenu.com closer to the holiday. This is a local food critic and he will have info.

We ate at Ruth's Chris steak house this year, but for dinner. They had their regular menu.

Many things in the Quarter will be open - I think there may be three parades on Easter Sunday.
