Free WiFi

In Naples, there is 'free' wifi in the Port at the ice cream place. You have to buy a little something and they will give you the code. At all the other ports, you don't go into the Port building so you can just find a cafe with the wifi sign - but you will have to buy something. Never had an issue finding wifi on a recent 11 day cruise.

If you want close to the ship, yes the crew know the hot-spots.

Most cafes & bars have free Wi-Fi, you'll see notices. Usually via a password from staff.

Signal strength varies from good to unusable. Take a look-see whether any customers are tapping away - even ask them how the signal is - before you order a drink.

All those ports will have plenty of free Wifi - as suggested, ask the crew or look out for the signs.

Specifically though:

Naples - as suggested, the little place in the terminal has free wifi

Civitavecchia - all the little bars along the seafront by the old bus drop-off point have free wifi, you just have to make a purchase. Additionally they have free wifi in Subway and McDonalds.

Livorno - nowhere close to the port as it's a big industrial port so you would have to catch the shuttle bus into town. Just look for a wifi sign when you get there

Cannes - they have free wifi at McDonalds which is a couple of hundred yards along the seafront to the right, from where the tender drops you. We picked up a signal just sitting outside without making a purchase

Palma - turn left as you leave the terminal building and follow the signs for the shopping centre Porto Pi. Cross the road towards the shopping centre and there's a little cafe bar outside the centre which has free wifi.
