motorboatin427 Posted July 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2014 So the last cruise we took we flew into FLL and used SAS transportation to take us to the port. This time we wanted to get some bottled water or sugar free juice to take on the ship, but we don't wanna fly with it. There are 4 of us traveling and idk how expensive a cab would be but we definitely wanted to stop at a store between the airport and the ship. Any advice on the most cost effective way? daunegnc Posted July 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Check a oneway car rental for your dates. We have done that a few times for as little as $39 per day and then you have a car to do a bit of shopping in the area. Add cab fare from the rental return and you are still close to or under the price of the shuttles especially for more than 2 people and you were able to set your own schedule. motorboatin427 Posted July 13, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Do you recommend any place in particular. I checked Hertz and it would be around $100 eeeek

On our last cruise from Miami, some of the people on the SAS shuttle wanted to get some wine, so the driver stopped at a drug store about three blocks from the pier and let them get their wine. Ashland Posted July 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2014 try dollar or thrifty. Actually try them all...prices can vary greatly...Budget also works well if you have a discount code for them (BCD)...Also you can get discount rates if you're a Costco member and book through them. daunegnc Posted July 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Even try to bid on priceline...check the going rate on your size car and bid under that by about 30-40%. Has worked for me a few times.
pjtulsa Posted July 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2014 I use carrentals.com and they list all the car companies. When you drop your car off at the MIA airport they should have a free shuttle to the port or at least they did last year when we did it
