As long as it gets done at least 3 days in advance, no difference.

 

For the OCD folks (self included), I'd do it earlier, just so you have time in case you discover something unexpected, like your passport expires before the cruise.

No benefit, but I love doing anything related to my cruises, even if it's filling out on-line forms.

I paid for my May, 2015 cruise last Thursday, and got an e-mail that my set sail passes were ready, which I printed out. The luggage tags won't be ready to print until about 45 days prior to the cruise..

Cruising in October. Have already printed set sail passes. No luggage tags available yet. Guess I'm OCD too. LOL.

It's been a while since I've cruised but I believe your Doc's will be issued at around 49 days prior to sailing...I always keep checking my online status after final payment...it will generally show issued there long before you get the "offical" email....:D
