Breakaway Advice

Just got off breakaway and had a blast. It rained first day we arrived in Bermuda, so we did Crystal caves. Really beautiful, but there are 83 steps down, remember you have to up them too.

Horseshoe bay is beautiful.

We also went helmet diving, what an experience.

The ship is beautiful and big.

Rock of ages was great.

Get a bus pass and explore island yourself. Taxi's are very expensive.

There is so much to do on the ship, you need more then a week to see it all.

Have fun, I know you will.

Thanks so much! Thank you for being specific. Do you know if Horseshoe Bay has lockers?

Thanks for the info about Coco Reef! Was looking for something along those lines! Definitely will check it out

Your welcome!

We only pre booked shows and we did that for the nights we were at sea but for dinners we waited till on board to check things out and never had trouble getting anything even if we just walked up and asked the longest wait was 20 minutes

Yes go to the glass blowing, great little earrings and necklaces and a great show!

Loved Glass Beach, spent a few minutes there and right next to it was a public swimming beach.

Enjoy!

I just sailed the Breakaway and my tips and review is here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2074156

I have read several comments about a magician who appears as entertainment on the Breakaway.

I have not read where or when he appears.

It does not appear among the entertainment choices on the NCL website.

Can anyone advise? TIA.

Comedy Magician Michael Finney is not performing on the Breakaway for now. I don't know who they replaced him with.

THAT explains why he is not listed among the entertainment options. Thanks for this.

Be sure to brink lots of nickels and dimes with you for the ship.

How come you have been saying that all all different threads? Second thread I looked at and you are making reference to nickel and dimes? Don't you like NCL? Did you have a problem with NCL? Just inquiring.

NCL offers a number of upcharge options. I can't speak for him, but most of them like specialty dining make sense. There's scarcity of seats (supply) for those places, so charging for them based on desire (demand) is the fairest way to do it. If it were free, everyone would be subsidizing it and it would essentially be a lottery to get the reservation.

I'm less on board with the Jungle Dreams show being an expensive add-on. The newer ships are broken up into lots of different areas that create a scarcity when one didn't need to exist. It's still debatable. (The Speigel Tent is a different environment than the theater, so the show can be different and more intimate.)

I didn't feel this ship really nickel and dimed any more than any of the other cruiselines.

They did have the cirque dinner show that was a charge - but I was happy to skip it since there was a plethora of other free entertainment.

Yep me either. I ate at cagneys and tepanyaki and other than 1 massage I don't think I spent much more. Of course I had a drink card from the casino but every line charges for drinks also.

Sailed on the Breakaway 5/11 - loved it! Awesome ship.

- book dining online now - Savor and Taste have the same menu and are contemporary casual; Manhattan dining room more upscale - has live music and dance floor; slightly different menu here.

- Rock of Ages was great - book online ahead of time (but not Weds nite!)

Why not Wednesday nights for ROA? Is it because of the Harbour Nites in Hamilton? Those end at the start of September and we are sailing after that.

If you have a balcony cabin on the port side you can watch the Friday night fireworks from there. If not, watch from the Waterfront, deck 8, port side. Less crowded than Spice H2O that night.

How do you know if your are port side? Is this standard or just how your positioned on when in the port?

Port side of the ship is the left side. Starboard side of the ship is the right side.

Look at the deck plans on ncl.com to see where your cabin is located.

Hope this helps.

When the ship docks at a port it may be either side.

Yes, if Harbor Nites is done - then it's fine for ROA. :)
