mp8shnt Posted April 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Where are my old posts? I tried doing an advanced search on my former posts about the Le Meridien Papeete. I got NOTHING? How can this be?????? Is this a residual affect of the not so recent "upgrade" of Cruise Critic????? If so I am APPALLED that this has not been fixed. What is the value of this board if you cannot do searches on items of interest for lurkers or new posters. This is how I stared posting here to begin with. spleen93 Posted April 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Todd - the search function here at Cruise Critic has never been all that great. It's always had difficulty correctly finding old posts or would come back saying "search took too long to run". And since the database reconstruction, it's gotten worse with the replies saying "-1" and nonsense such as this. It's been rather disheartening to find that old information that I've posted (not on RSSC) in the past has become so hard to find ... a definite sense of futility there. I feel your frustration. mp8shnt Posted April 6, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Hey Masaki! I think you need to add the most talked about Radisson cruise on your signature line: MINT! Yeah I know that the search was never great but, I could always find my stuff if I put enough information into the search....like adding my screen name or even narrowing the time frame down a bit. Mailman055 Posted April 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2004 I just tried a search for my posts and got nothing found as well. I also did a search for the Radisson forum and the words "Mariner Alaska" and got 4 hits...all of them from THIS WEEK ONLY ! This is indeed pretty lame if search continues to function this way. curiouscruiser Posted April 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I'm having the same problem. I remember printing out some threads - I hope I saved them but don't think I did. Shannon1 Posted April 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2004 The search function may not pick up everything, but the main problem I think is that many, many posts are deleted. This happened throughout the boards in a couple of batches a few weeks ago. I thought they would have been resurrected, and it seems some have, but many others have not. At this late date, it is doubtful they ever will be.
Dolebludger Posted April 8, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Ignore this and read below. Thanks, Richard
Dolebludger Posted April 8, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 8, 2004 For a possibly related problem, go back to page 7 or so, and note that even some long threads show "-1" response! This board, like Humpty Dumpty, just didn't get put back together again. Thanks, Richard
