BACK-TO-BACK - Get off Ship?

My wife and I are doing five (5) back to back cruises on the Quantum when they reposition next May. Will we have to get off the ship and go thru re-boarding procedures each time or would we be able to stay on the ship and just get new ship cards from Guest Relations???

 

Additionally, we will have to change cabins after the third cruise. Will we have to repack everything in order to move? When would we move? Before new passengers come aboard? Will the new cabin we will move into be cleaned before we move, etc, etc, etc,?????

We have done several b to b's on Triumph and yes you do have to go to immigration in between the cruises but ships personnel escort down and back. Your sea pass account is cleared each time and if you have to change cabins your room steward will usually help with that to make it easier. I know you are not sailing Carnival, but I think procedures are about the same.

On our one and only B2B we were required to leave the ship. However, I have heard others [on other cruises -- everyone on our cruise had to disembark] say that they were not required to do so. In our case, we were told we had to leave because of some periodic inspection or customs check that required the ship to have a zero passenger count. I emphasize we were kept clearly informed and had our hands held through the entire process. They took good care of us.

 

As to packing, typically you will have to pack loose items [anything not hanging] into your bags, but the things hanging in you closet will be moved on a rack. Our steward came to me the day before and went through the whole process so I would know what was going on. We were fortunate that we did not have to move. I am guessing by the 3d cruise you will have a pretty good relationship with your steward.

When doing a b2b that involves turnaround day in a foreign port, it all depends on the Port Authorities whether you must disembark or not. We've experienced both.

 

Depending on the number of consecutive cruisers, a meeting may be held the day or two prior to the end of each sailing giving you specific instructions on what will happen the morning of debarkation. Or they may just deliver letters of explanation to your cabin.

 

SeaPass Cards will either be distributed prior to the end of each cruise or you will receive them the morning of. We've experienced both. Each cruise is handled independently and your SeaPass account is closed at the end of each cruise and a new account is started. There is no carry over of any unused OBC from one cruise to another.

 

When changing cabins, I suggest that you meet your new cabin attendant sometime during the third cruise and let him know which cabin you will be moving to. Let your current attendant know you will be changing cabins also.

 

You will have to pack up loose items in your suitcase. Things on hangers will be moved for you by your cabin attendant. By letting your new cabin attendant know you are changing cabins, it may give them the opportunity to have your new cabin ready earlier.

Seeing how they Adverstised this trip as the Global Oddessy (I believe this is what you are referring to) and sold it as such...there will be several of you in the situation, if not a large group.

 

As the previous poster said, I am sure RCCL will publish specific guidaince on board and before for those taking part in the trek.

 

Have fun....sounds like a unique experience....better hope the ship doesnt suck :eek::D:p

I disagree you do not always have to get off the ship even in the USA. It's completely up to the port authorities.

As others have said, anything could happen, it's hard to say. Hopefully since it sounds like there will be a larger group of people doing B2Bs, RC will have everything organized for you.

Yes, they at first said we had to get off, then went as a group to ding off, stood around a while in the hot sun on Deck 5 and then were told we did not have to go to the terminal we could just ding back on. I also did not have to get off the ship in San Diego on the Legend B2B Panama Canal.
