Yarra Valley winery lunch

Recommended Posts

Excursions have just been posted for our Feb 2015 cruise. I would like to do a ship's excursion in Melbourne that includes a wildlife sanctuary and a winery. The choices include lunch at either the Fergusson or Rochford winery.

Any comments re the meal at either winery.

We do not want to do an independent full day winery tour.

Thanks.

Thanks. Sadly meds now limit our wine consumption so food quality has become more important….Think we will go with Rochford for lunch as it has the better reviews.

Alaskanb,

We live in the Yarra Valley, we have been to both many times, both are lovely wineries.

I would choose Fergussons over Rochford in a minute for many reasons.

Fergussons is family owned and run (Louise Fergusson is the head chef, she is the owners wife), whereas Rochfords is more up market and commercial.

I hope this helps.

Thanks--good to know…we like to support family endeavors.

As we will be on a tour the ability to feed a large group becomes important. The tours visit both wineries but differ in where lunch is served.

Ferguson's have the best Sunday lunch. They do a roast on an open fire with all the roast veggies and salad you can eat. Yum yum. Much more friendlier than Rochford. Relaxed and less commercial. We love another cafe called yarrawood.
