Host Caroline Posted August 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2005 ... did they have theme cruises AND did you go St Patrick's Day???? Did they have green beer, a great party??? We just booked this cruise (March 11) partly because it's a 3-hour drive from the front door to the port but it looked like fun, we have enjoyed 3 prior NCL cruises and Key West was a plus!. They had a list of theme cruises from Charleston from November-next April for each week in the local paper a month ago but NCL website only lists themes for the Bermuda cruises ... So I'm wondering if they did this last year? I started a roll call for March 11 -- c'mon and join us.. it's actually a St Patricks' Day/Golf Clinic theme. Others include food & wine, cooking, etc.. if anyone is interested I'll post the whole roster....

I would be interested in seeing a list also. :D The 11/19 sailing is listed as: Thanksgiving at Sea- Destination Lecture on Charleston. If you have Adobe I can e-mail you a scanned copy of my mini-brochure. It lists the themes for each week.;)
Host Caroline Posted August 10, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted August 10, 2005 I'm interested in this this list The cruise we booked is supposeably a nascar cruise which sounds fun but this is the first I heard of it. I would appreciate any information on this Thanks I see you sail a lot on Princess too :) .. That remains my favorite but we like to mix it up .. this will be our 4th NCL cruise. Yes, January 14 is a NASCAR cruise acc. to schedule.. I know for a fact bec. my housemate is a huge fan and I'm a huge NON-fan so I did not want to be onboard that week... but for the true fan will be interesting to see what they do.. when NCL was the king of theme cruises and that their "Sports Afloat" program they had baseball, Nascar, football cruises and got some pretty big names in the sport to come on for those, had lots of activities etc. I will post the schedule from home! I know that March 18 is scrapbooking and crafts and that March 25 is running/walking clinic. March 11 is St Paddy's/Golf Clinic actually. I think Feb 18 was wine & food and Feb 25 was House & Garden.. These were the ones I was lookin' at so I remember them!
GregInCharlotte Posted August 10, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2005 We were on the Majesty the week leading up to and including Christmas. There were some decorations - a tree in the lobby area and a gingerbread house made by the chefs and that was about it. On Christmas Eve the ship put on what amounted to a talent show where groups of crew members sang as well as some passengers. Later, there was a carol sing-along in the lobby area. It was all quite pleasant but not over-the-top. Otherwise, it was 100% a Friday on the Majesty. Same menus, schedule etc. I asked a supervisor in the casino about 1am on Christmas Eve, "If we weren't in here could you go relax with your crewmates?" "No, as far as our schedule is concerned, it's Friday." That was Christmas. I wouldn't expect a big deal made about St. Patrick's Day.

I wouldn't expect a big deal made about St. Patrick's Day. Thanks! We were on the ship right before it went from Royal Majesty to NCL and it was really decorated up for the holidays. I don't expect anything "big" really to be honest with you.. it's just in my mindset "fitness" aka walking/running clinic don't go with "cruise.".. I also take a vacation from that. I'm just Irish green, grew up in the Northeast so figured St Patrick's Day was a good excuse to go on a cruise:) and the "Freestyle"... we'll just make our own party.... Bberry Posted August 11, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2005 Thanks for posting the list. This Southern Belle is very happy that she didn't book a NASCAR week cruise ;) ...and her idea of Southern Entertaining would never have any connection to it. Host Caroline Posted August 12, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted August 12, 2005 My idea of entertaining during a Nascar race is to invite some friends to meet me for lunch away from the house and the drone of the engines....;) ;) :)

Where are you from? Who all will you be traveling with? What kinds of excursions will you be doing? Hope to talk with you more.
NCmom Posted August 13, 2005 #14 Share Posted August 13, 2005 We're on the Easter/kids and adult "star seeker" cruise--somehow, I am picturing droves of overly made up little girls running around with curlers in the hair.
Host Caroline Posted August 13, 2005 Author #15 Share Posted August 13, 2005 I've heard that some of the star seeker competitors are really really good.. I hope they have something similar in March but you are right about the "pageant atmosphere" at Easter :) On Princess they have Princess Idol and we thorougly enjoyed that esp. since the audience gets to vote!! lyneee Posted August 14, 2005 #16 Share Posted August 14, 2005 Hi NCMom......we're on the Easter/kids and adult "star seeker" cruise also. I had no idea they had a theme for each cruise. I guess I've just learned something new. Should I assume "star seeker" doesn't refer to the sky?
SHINEMAN Posted August 14, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 14, 2005 What about the 10/30 this year. Do they have something for Halloween. Now considered a major American, indeed, worldwide, event.
