sarawithanh Posted July 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Hello, Cruising in January w/ my husband and my parents. Looking for what to do that is relatively inexpensive. Beaches, etc. Thanks
blue_water Posted July 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2014 You should dock at Havensight (WICO) and the closest beach is Morningstar to the east, probably $6pp each way by taxi. The nicer beaches are Magens to the north, and the East End beaches of Coki, Sapphire, and Secret Harbor. These will run between $8 and $10pp each way. Lindbergh is on the other side of Charlotte Amalie near the airport. Here's a map to show the beach locations and a link to some descriptions - http://www.virginislandsthisweek.com/st-thomas/maps/st-thomas-island-road-map.html http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1993432
tortolabound Posted July 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2014 We are returning to St. Thomas next February and I have read several descriptions of the beaches in St. Thomas, however, none mention any beaches with some wave action. Are all the beaches in bays that are calm, or are there any that you can actually wade into and experience some ocean waves. We have been to Megan's Bay several times and while we like it, it is a little too calm and reminds us of Tobacco Bay in Bermuda with the addition of picnic tables and trees. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.
Ms411 Posted July 31, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2014 At that time of year there should be waves and surfers at Hull Bay. Morningstar Beach s usually wavier than Magens.
