jcearth Posted July 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2014 So I am sailing in 45 days on the Conquest, and the prices are dropping like a rock. We have a group of 21 family members going, and we all booked last year under a past guest rate. I was the only one to switch my booking to Early Saver when it became available. Most of us booked inside rooms on the Lido deck for convenience to the pools and buffet. All through the spring the prices never moved as the summer cruises were deeply discounted. Within the last 30 days (after final payment) however, the prices have fallen dramatically. I was able to upgrade from non-connecting inside cabins to connecting oceanview cabins (I have small children and love this configuration), and receive over $750 in OBC for my 2 cabins!!! My family members were disappointed that they couldn't get the price drops, but have now since upgraded from lido deck insides to lido deck balconies for only $40pp. We were considering the Liberty (an 8 day out of Port Canaveral), and the prices have actually risen for this cruise, while our cruise is selling for about half of what it was last year! Has anyone else been experiencing massive price drops for Fall Cruises?

KPfromCT Posted July 31, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Congratulations!!!! I can understand your THRILL. We had exactly $1500 in price drops for our July 4th Breeze cruise. We were ECSTATIC, to say the least.:D:D:D This was for 3 people in a Lido Deck balcony. Have a great trip!!!!:D
Taylor95 Posted July 31, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I don't mean to hijack your thread but I have never cruised Carnival & I'm trying to understand the early saver program. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't book this way. I see where there is a $50 penalty to reschedule & you lose your deposit if you cancel - is there something else I'm missing? The cruise I'm looking at right now has a pretty big difference in price if you book the early saver - seems like a much better deal! Congrats on your upgrade & OBC!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums The big thing people like about Early Saver is that it's the only rate program that lets you take advantage of all of the price drops that happen between the time you book, and up to 2 days before your cruise. It's a great program but yeah, it has some restrictions (like that $50 penalty).
sjcruiser Posted August 1, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Congrats on the price drops!!! We also have several hundred in obc per person, in several cabins using the ES rate, and other promos since we booked in Jan/Feb. We figure the obc has taken care of our gratuities, and the rest will go towards DOD, and the casino. Two weeks to go!!!:)
ginak82 Posted August 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Several on my Breeze roll call have received massive amounts OBC for our sailing. I had already booked ES at a pretty good rate but have still managed to get $88 OBC. I can't believe how cheap the rooms are going for on my sailing. If I didn't care where my room was I'd do an inside guarantee. They're going for $249pp right now. I just don't want to risk losing my spot on lido for $200. cjnwildfire Posted August 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We are booked in late Sept. I have been checking weekly and have so far gotten a little over $700 on 2 rooms and a friend we is cruising solo with us has gotten a little over 200. Yeap, check those prices! And book the ES! Mistyhon Posted August 1, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We're finally seeing some for our Oct Sunshine cruise (balcony room=$400 in OBC.) Our friends who booked an inside have only gotten one price reduction while we're on our 4th.
stevethepirate Posted August 1, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 1, 2014 What Carnival does most often is this. After final payment. Choose your cabin=high price Let us choose (guarantee)=low price Pack and Go=same as above Early Saver=left out because you can't price match to guarantee. Some other kind of promo=usually for new bookings. That's just my experience. Your mileage may vary.

Stallion Posted August 1, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 1, 2014 BIG BIG Pack N Go Sale on my August 24, 2014 Carnival Magic cruise. I've been holding out due to the inevitable Law of Supply and Demand. Price dropped $400 overnite for a (single) Balcony and about $800 over several months. golfadj Posted August 1, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Very inexpensive to cruise during hurricane season. Price on our upcoming Conquest has also dropped like a rock. Wish I booked earlier to get ES. Oh well.
Mrs CruisinCritter Posted August 1, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Congratulations! We booked almost a year ago while we were on our Pride cruise for a Pride cruise this September. The price is currently $45 cheaper than it was when we booked, but the taxes and fees have increased about the same amount. VacationCrazee Posted August 1, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 1, 2014 the prices on my two Breeze cruises have also dropped. The first leg of my B2B dropped so much that I went from a Cat. 1A to a Cove Balcony for just about the same price. I could have saved a few hundred $$ but instead I opted to experience a balcony for the first time ever. :p finally payment for that cruise is over and it was NOT booked as an ES. Unfortunately, I have watched the price drop a few more times but cannot take advantage. I am kinda ok bc I got a solo booking in a cove balcony for about $800 on an 8 day cruise. Not too shabby. my next leg is a 6 day cruise. this cruise WAS booked as an ES so when the price dropped a bit, I got the difference. final payment is done but if the price drops further, I will end up with OBC. I check a few times every day and the price just wont' drop any further. I think it is bc it is one of those concert cruises. i am not familiar with the artist performing and will not be attending the concert. I just hope that the price drops at least $100 so that I can get OBC that will at least cover my tips. going forward, i will always book ES unless I find a strong enough reason (other than $50) not to book ES. Stallion Posted August 1, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 1, 2014 I've actually arranged my cruise so that I won't spend a dime until about 15 days AFTER I get back from cruise by purchasing last minute cruise at start of credit month. I guess I won't be able to complain "I WANT MY MONEY BACK" because technically they don't got it yet!

surfjock27 Posted August 1, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 1, 2014 That's awesome! Congrats. I booked in January (Breeze) that sails on November 8th. So far we are at $240 in drops (3 guests). Hoping it drops more. *fingers crossed*

Some other kind of promo=usually for new bookings. That's just my experience. Your mileage may vary. This is exactly what happened on our May cruise after final payment. Luckily, I had already gotten $280 in OBC for our 2 cabins months before final payment came. It was frustrating though because those cabins went for way less and I couldn't price match. Jimmy Geegitz Posted August 1, 2014 #23 Share Posted August 1, 2014 I wish early saver covered the Carnival picks your cabin price. Or the pack n go.$250 less than my balcony. But I like my spot and we have relatives on each side. So we would lose all that.
Lisa30126 Posted August 1, 2014 #24 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We booked an Early Saver on the Sept. 1 Freedom - to date we have collected $200 in OBC - sweet!!
pokergirl34 Posted August 1, 2014 #25 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Our October Breeze cruise has dropped $820 for the cabin, all prior to final payment which just was due. The guarantee rates are amazing but I'm not giving up my cabin for one under the lido or right in view of the Lanai.
