Baby basil Posted August 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2014 My favourite cocktail is a Bloody Ceasar, a mainly Canadian thing. Can anyone tell me if they are available on the Celebrity Reflection eastern med. cruises? Thank you.
coldweathergirl Posted August 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2014 When we sailed on the Reflection last January they were available. They've also been available on each Celebrity ship we've sailed on. I also love them. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

G&L in WPG Posted August 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Glass is rimmed with salt & celery salt, ingrediants are Clamato juice, 1 Oz vodka, 10 drops Worchestershire, 2 drops Tobasco, celery stalk as a stir stick. Latest thing is to suspend over the glass on a toothpick a slice of salami folded around a pickle and piece of cheddar cheese. Proof that winters are long and boring in Canada and we need to find ways to amuse ourselves in the curling rink bar...
sprockie Posted August 3, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Don't forget pickled beans! I make them each year to pop them in my ceasars. Some folks put horseradish in them, but I am not a fan.
Jaxom37 Posted August 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Sounds "interesting" to say the least  Down here in Mississippi you can still get some real live old fashion moonshine from the local "dealer" :D In fact the remains of my grandfathers still is not to far from my house. My mother told me he used to hide it in a special place in his car so grandma could not find it. Mom learned to drive very young, as she was always driving grandpa home when he got to drinking with his buddies.
koolforkatz Posted August 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Or pickled asparagus, yum.... one of the best caesars I've had in a while was at the Red Dog in Juneau. They used smoked salmon infused vodka. Sounds bizarre but it was soooooooooooo good.

Classic Ceaser always includes a squirt of lemon juice. If you haven't tried it you might want to give it a whirl.
Christine Frances Posted August 3, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Take your own rimmer though!! On the ship they use some standard stuff. I buy Matt & Steve's to bring on board as it is in a easy packing tin and then leave it with my favourite bartender. I can get it at my local grocery store or at London Drugsl http://mattandsteve.com/Canada-C10.aspx Edited August 3, 2014 by Christine Frances
bakcd Posted August 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2014 I ordered a Bloody Ceaser on the Infinity in March. I don't know what recipe it was but they delivered a sweet bloody Mary! It was awful. Never tried again.

Lemon juice was reserved for Bloody Mary's. :)

Maybe it's more "rigid" up there, but in my experience a Bloody Caesar is a Bloody Mary except with clamato juice instead of tomato juice - and has just as many variations. monicajay Posted August 4, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 4, 2014 No lemon juice in a Caesar. I bartended for years in Calgary (where the Caesar was created). Lemon juice was reserved for Bloody Mary's. :) I guess there are variations as I also bartended in Toronto and then in Quebec. We always put a squirt of lemon and then garnished with a lime wedge. People raved about how good my Ceasars were. Glad to hear they stock Clamato on the ships. Never thought of asking for it on my first Celebrity cruise. sprockie Posted August 4, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Clamato juice purchased in the U.S. is different than the stuff in Canada. I thought of bringing my own, but an accident in my luggage would be quite a mess!
Tiggertastic Posted August 4, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 4, 2014 We found that not every bar has clamto and the sunset tried to give a Bloody Mary instead. Find a good bar and tell them and when they stock, they will get cans to that bar
KW Cruisers Posted August 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) We had Caesars on the Reflection last month (July 2014). Not to worry. Shawn Edited August 4, 2014 by KW Cruisers
wpgcycler Posted August 4, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 4, 2014 It's definitely not traditional/authentic etc. but I learned many years ago that the very best way to make a Caesar is with Bacardi Limon. Never mind moaning about not liking rum, please, just try it.
elena7seas Posted August 4, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Apparently Absolute Citron vodka is good too. :D

maximusas Posted August 4, 2014 #22 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Can't speak for the reflection, but it was on the eclipse 2 weeks ago. Went to cellar masters for a Bloody Mary and was asked by the sommelier whether I'd tried a blood Caesar... I hadn't so he brought me one along with my Bloody Mary in case I didn't like it... The joys of the premium drinks package... It's nice but still prefer the Bloody Mary I have to admit.
