beebee Posted August 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Just booked the Celbrity New England/Canada cruise on the summit. Couldn't find any shore excursions for Quebec...are there any?
CHEZMARYLOU Posted August 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2014 I'm sure there are. What date are you booked on? We are sailing Sept 20, 2015 Mary Lou
maryann ns Posted August 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2014 If you do some research here, you will find you do not need expensive ship excursions. Quebec can be a simple diy day of walking around. Here is a great resource: http://www.tomsportguides.com/ And more: http://beyondships.com/Ports-Quebec.html http://cruiseportwiki.com/QuebecCity
beebee Posted August 4, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted August 4, 2014 We are booked on the same cruise! Maybe we can share research on what to do!
QShip Posted August 5, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2014 We are on the 10-5 cruise. We often go on our own, but have two tours set up for Quebec so we can become acquainted with the area and then go out on our own. One tour is a walking overview of architecture and historic buildings, the other is a food and wine walking tour. We are looking forward to both. beebee Posted August 18, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Did you book your Quebec tours through the cruise ship? Are you sailing on the Celebrity Summit?
QShip Posted August 18, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) We are on the Summit, in Quebec Oct 11,12. We did not book through the ship. Our tours are with Tours Voir Quebec, which is very highly rated on Trip Advisor. We would rather reverse the order of our tours, but ship's schedule does not allow it. http://www.toursvoirquebec.com/quebec-city Edited August 18, 2014 by QShip
FloatYourBoatSince2003 Posted August 23, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2014 Not sure if this helps you, but check with Tours Voir Quebec. They often do a walking tour right from the ship first thing when it docks, instead of their set website times. All they need is enough passengers to sign up. When we signed up for the 10 o'clock walking tour we inquired this and they had already started booking one - so we're leaving from where the ship docks at 9am instead (that's when our ship arrives). That will give us an introduction to the city right away. We are also doing the food tour later in the afternoon.
QShip Posted August 23, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 23, 2014 FYB Great idea. I will call them and check. When are you going to be in Quebec? We are on Summit Oct. 11, 12.
FloatYourBoatSince2003 Posted August 24, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) Norwegian Dawn Sept 19th and 20th. Can't wait! Emailing may work better. Sometimes the person answering the phone doesn't speak English, but I've had great service via email because the appropriate person can respond. Edited August 24, 2014 by FloatYourBoatSince2003 added note about email.
QShip Posted August 24, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 24, 2014 FloatYourBoat I took you suggestion and emailed Tours Voir Quebec this morning. They answered promptly and we now have both the Old Quebec and the Food Tours on the same day. Thanks.
FloatYourBoatSince2003 Posted August 25, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Perfect! Glad it worked out. If I get organized I'll post a review before you go.
FloatYourBoatSince2003 Posted October 2, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 2, 2014 Just back from the cruise - we enjoyed both the walking tour (convenient, right off the ship, well done) and the food tour (have lunch but save some room for the sampling). I haven't had time to do a review yet but thought I'd report back (favourably) on Tours Voir Quebec. Get lots of rest the night before - walking around Quebec all day is a lot of great exercise. :) Incidentally, others on our Roll Call did the morning walking tour and the afternoon bus tour in the country and also found it very enjoyable.
