cruisetexas Posted August 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Their new packages include unlimited beverages, six bottles of water, shore excursion credits, photos, one paid restaurant visit per night, internet access up to 4 hours and gratuities. So how much is that worth to you? Think Carnival will give it a shot? http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-08-04/norwegian-cruises-new-all-inclusive-fares-include-unlimited-booze?campaign_id=yhoo
ryanpatricksmom Posted August 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2014 The "unlimited beverages" which only limits water makes me chuckle. Gives a window into what our priorities are, lol!
EZ4 Posted August 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2014 $900 for a 7 night sounds pretty steep for the Carnival demographic. Carnival is more likely to try to get you on board for $29.95 and then pile on with a fee for every little thing.

sueinphilly Posted August 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2014 the limit on water is probably because storing bottled water takes up alot of space

Cruise, J.D. Posted August 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Carnival is more likely to try to get you on board for $29.95 and then pile on with a fee for every little thing. I saw a similar comment on another board. I don't get it. Last cruise I paid for: (1) adult beverages for my wife and I and sodas for our son; (2) Camp Carnival fee after 10:00 pm; (3) Casino losses; and (4) Gratuities. We used the MDR, Lido buffet, tea time, room service, mini-golf, ping pong, water works, main pool, gym, various public areas of the ship, Camp Carnival before 10:00 pm, shows, comedy club, disco, and piano bar all for no additional charge. I'm sure I forgot other included things. What does Carnival nickle-and-dime that other mass market brand's don't? Edited August 4, 2014 by Cruise, J.D. JLee1973 Posted August 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 4, 2014 $900/per person plus base cruise fair, taxes, fees, gratuities. I'll pass If you purchase cheers for a seven day you are looking at $800 for two people, one night at the steakhouse for two $75. Then excursion credits and various other things it is very competitive. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
spencercoop Posted August 4, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 4, 2014 This program probably wouldn't work on Carnival because Carnival doesn't have the speciality restaurant variety like NCL has. Many Carnival ships don't have any specialty rest. and most only have 1. The only ships that have multiple specialty rest. are the Legend (Steakhouse, Bonsai), Magic (Steakhouse, Cucina), Breeze (Steakhouse, Cucina, Bonsai), and Sunshine (Steakhouse, Cucina, JiJi, and Bonsai). Remember the My Awesome Bar Package? The advertisement stated unlimited alcoholic beverages, but chose to limit it to 15 on select ships? EZ4 Posted August 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Grats are included in the NCL package. And I thought I read somewhere that you get $100 OBC or discount on the base fare, but don't quote me on that.
SMSACE6 Posted August 4, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 4, 2014 As long as it is just an option, then I think it is fine. It would be good for plenty of people, but not for those who dont drink much alchohol, or go to the upcharge restaurants. I think NCL is good at offering options, but only time will tell if this one takes off.
deborahjo Posted August 4, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 4, 2014 You must realize that on NCL they have 5 to 7 pay restrauants? on every ship. That is not for me.
EnTnSA Posted August 4, 2014 #20 Share Posted August 4, 2014 I read about this on USA Today's Travel section the other day. Sounds like a cool option, but seemed REALLY pricey. I think the only way it makes sense is if it is some sort of bargain deal for those of us who do partake in all of those options. The way it sounded now, it sounds like it costs more than just paying for things individually.
EZ4 Posted August 4, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 4, 2014 And it's only offered on bookings this month.
sueinphilly Posted August 4, 2014 #22 Share Posted August 4, 2014 if they get a big response to it, I bet they offer it again. from a marketing standpoint, it's better to say it's for a limited time and then extend it. Rather to just roll it out permanently and then cancel it.

Is there some reason that having all those restaurants is not for you? Bill Sent from Iphone 4S using Cruise Critic App

092306 Posted August 5, 2014 #25 Share Posted August 5, 2014 I think if you were planning on buying the cheers program anyway, the all inclusive package with the other extras you get in addition to alcohol doesn't seem all that bad to me.
