Top Chef feedback

I believe the first of this year's Top Chef at Sea cruises just returned. My wife and I are booked on the next one that leaves a week from Friday. I'd love to hear of people's experiences with it. We're doing one of the cooking classes and are really excited about it. I'd especially like to hear more about that experience, including how many people were in the class, where the class was held, etc.

Chris, that was a great review, thank you for writing it! Much confusion about what will or will not happen, so the article helps.

It didn't help that when I called to book, celebrity offered me a choice of 12 pm or 3AM. Seriously, the chefs are going to get up at 3AM? I doubt that is going to happen, but why is celebrity selling

It also helped knowing how many people will be in the class. Do you think my daughter would be allowed to watch the cooking class? She's too young to participate and definitely can't partake in the wine-drinking, so I can't justify shelling out the money for her. Would they allow her to observe? She's 8. Wondering if you had any observers in your cooking class?

Hi Queen -

We had observers in our class, but they were all PR people (Bravo was onboard since this was the first one). You'd have to check with Guest Services, I think, to see if your daughter could participate.

I will say that the Quickfire challenges and cooking demos that each chef had were extremely open, and they seemed happy to talk with passengers afterward. There were also plenty of kids in those sessions, some of whom asked the chefs really great questions! So she can still be part of the fun, even if she's not in the private class.

I hear you on the scheduling. I found it extremely annoying before the cruise, particularly for planning purposes. Celebrity tells me that they'll be adjusting that....I hope it's soon.

Hi everyone. I'm the Cruise Critic editor who wrote the review above. It's pretty comprehensive, I think, but if you have additional questions, ask away!

I met Angelo a couple years ago when we ate at his restaurant in Manhattan. He was so nice and sat with us for awhile and personally suggested our menu, plus gave us a free cocktail. What a great guy! The food was amazing too, very interesting Asian flavors. I would definitely pick his class if I only had one choice.

I am sure if he were doing the European cruise that I would have taken it.
