CruzinNoony Posted August 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2014 We are planning on taking the hop-on, hop-off bus in Halifax. For those who have done this, do they take USD and/or credit cards?
maryann ns Posted August 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2014 You could contact them, but since they charge over $60 with the tax I imagine they will take credit cards. http://www.ambassatours.com/halifax-big-pink-hop-on-hop-off-tour http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g154976-d2303044-Reviews-Big_Pink_Sightseeing_Hop_On_Hop_Off-Halifax_Halifax_Regional_Municipality_Nova_Sc.html
CruzinNoony Posted August 9, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted August 9, 2014 Thanks. Actually, in USD it is approximately $36.00. ;)
maryann ns Posted August 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2014 With the tax, the tour is $66 CAD which is about $60.15 US. Where have you found the lesser price?
CruzinNoony Posted August 10, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted August 10, 2014 You are absolutely correct. I have no idea how I came up with the lesser amount. We'll have to find something else to do in Halifax - that is way too expensive for a ho-ho. We have been there before, so have gone to Peggy's Cove. Do you have any suggestions? GradUT Posted August 10, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2014 How about a Segway tour? We did one last month when we visited Halifax on our cruise and it was a lot of fun! (We've done several Segway tours in various places because they are so darn fun!) They offer a ride along the boardwalk for as little as $29. We did the 90-minute city tour (which actually lasted 2 hours) and that cost $59. That's about the same as the HO/HO bus, but it's a whole lot more fun. (Do you think we had FUN?) maryann ns Posted August 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) You can just walk or take a taxi to Citadel Hill if the climb is too much. Most things of interest are walkable. http://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g1555466-i14120-k7482481-I_need_something_NEW_to_do_in_Halifax_Can_you_help-Halifax_Regional_Municipality_Nova_Sco.html http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1989879 http://halifaxbloggers.ca/thelocaltraveler/2014/05/10-day-trips-within-two-hours-of-halifax/ halifaxfreetours.wix.com/halifaxfreetours http://destinationhalifax.com/visitors/things-to-do-in-halifax http://www.halifaxseaport.com/pdfs/H..._July%2012.pdf http://cruisehalifax.ca/ www.TomsPortGuides.com Edited August 11, 2014 by maryann ns

GradUT Posted August 26, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 26, 2014 I hope you do try a Segway tour someday, FloatYourBoat. After taking my brother-in-law on a Segway tour in Austin, Texas, he said, "You just can't help smiling when you're on a Segway". I don't think I could have said it better myself! SavvyAdam Posted August 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Hey, Here is your answer I worked for the tour operator for the last two season Ambassatours Gray Line. The Hop-On/Hop-Off only runs on cruise ship days. You can either pre-purchase the tour onboard or at the pier. The price of the tour will be the same whether your purchase it onboard or on the pier as AGL is contracted by the ship and the ship sets the price. If you want to purchase it at the pier the just need your Ship Cards and its gets billed to your onboard account, no cash or credit is need to purchase at the pier. Another tip, you can purchase the HOHO outside of the cruise area. Out front of the Maritimes Museum of the Atlantic, Lower Water St, is an AGL kiosk which runs daily sight seeing tours for tourists visiting Halifax, I know in the past they have sold HOHO tickets to non-cruise passengers. The price may be cheaper or more expensive compared to what the ship is charing. Hope this helps. :D
