I want to thank all those that posted remarks about Ivan and David’s company (the Native Choice). They made our decision to book with them very easy. I don’t have any more positive remarks to add to those already posted, other than words don’t capture the passion, culture, and experience of one of their tours. They must be getting well known, Ivan told us they had 80 people booked the day we were there, Aug 3rd. The next day they had just 4 booked. We were fortunate to have Ivan lead our tour (And in our van) he talked about his country, culture, and experiences all the way to Chacchoben and back. It was an experience we won’t soon forget. Ivan also gave us some tips (when asked) about shopping and eating, what to look for and avoid without mentioning specific places. He did say however he likes the “Cats Meow” as a place to eat because the kitchen is kept very clean. Ivan told us that the normal population of Majahual is about 150 people and on cruise days (Ships in port) it grows to about 2500. The people come down from Cancun to sell stuff and provide taxi’s.

After our tour we decided to spend the afternoon at Majahaul. By the time we got there it was pretty crowded; Tapas and the other places mentioned. So we walked to the end of the street (Its blocked to cars for about three blocks) and found a new hotel and bar on the beach. "40 Cannons". It’s owned by 3 Italian guys from Milan who bought the land about three years ago and built the hotel and bar. We spent the afternoon there swimming, eating and drinking beer. The food was good and the beer about the same $$ as elsewhere. The hotel was very nice and we were able to use the restrooms at the hotel (Very clean). That end of the beach was uncrowded and quiet. The water was as warm as the air temp, very nice.

I spoke at length to Andrea the partner who runs the hotel; he said his hotel was full and expected to be so for several weeks. The rates run from $80.00 to $140.00 a nite with A/C, they have a small restaurant there and the beach bar. We had a great afternoon there and are looking to go back and spend more time there. If you get down to that end of the beach it’s a nice place to hang out, and the taxi’s are usually nearby if you don’t want to walk back thru town.
