Suggestions for What to do in Genoa, Italy

Recommended Posts

Our ship will be docked in Genoa for a day in October & I am looking for suggestions for things to do for the day besides the ship's tours.

Has anyone taken a private tour and if so, what company did you use? Where did you go?

Ferry to Portofino - is it worth the trip & how long does it take to get there? Where does the ferry leave from? What to do and see there? Times and prices?

Santa Margharita - is it worth going here?

Taking the cable car in Genoa - where do you get it & where does it take you?

Museums or the aquarium - worth visiting?

Thanks to all.

It was our last day and as an after thought decided to take the ships excursion to Portifino...too late..it was sold out so we walked around Genoa. It was Sunday and everything was closed. It was not our favorite place. Lots of graffitti, felt a bit uncomfortable walking around. We ended up going back to the ship and stayed there. Other people we talked to enjoyed the excursion to Portifino. We felt it was too long and involved to do it on our own. I think that was our only regret for this trip.
