cruisinlover1414 Posted August 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Hello, We are looking at booking our first disney cruise..on board the wonder for next summer in Alaska! I know it is silly, but it is a deal breaker for us if we can't get a table for 4 for the main seating. We just only get the vacations to sit together, so we like to have our own table. If we book now, how likely is it that we will get our own table for 4? Also, if we get a table for 4, will we have a table for 4 as we rotate dining rooms? Or do the sizes of the tables change as you rotate? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
jlk806 Posted August 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2014 We had the same size table in all restaurants, and it was a 4 seater (though we are only 3). The table next to us also only had 3 ppl but 4 seats. Call and add the request.

Have you had the request placed on your reservation to be seated by yourselves? That would be the first step. Each serving team serves a 4 top, a 6 top, and an 8 top. With 4 people you are most likely to be seated (without a request on your reservation) at either a 4 top or an 8 top. When you ask to have the request to be seated alone (you have to do this with a phone call to DCL, not online), they will tell you "it's only a request, yada, yada, yada". Just agree and ask again to have the request placed there. Once you get onboard your cruise, go to where the dining changes are being handled and they will be able to tell you whether your request has been granted. If not, you can ask again at that time. Most such requests are honored, some are not. UNLESS, you are Concierge. In that case, you will be seated alone, at your own table unless you request otherwise. PhillyRomantic Posted August 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Very likely. We have never had to share a table. Sent from my iPad using Forums
bsddsc Posted August 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Except for once, we always travel with another couple and have never had to share the table with people we did not know. The one time we cruised DCL alone, we were at a table with other couples. That's it. Like ever one has said, just tell them when you book. If for some reason it doesn't happen, your head server will place you at a table alone. You can even check when you board before dinner too. Our serving team had 2 4-tops in addition to the other tables. Ours and the one next to us.
moki'smommy Posted August 20, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2014 In terms of what a serving team may have had, Shmoo stated the normal situation. There are always variations. Call DCL and make them aware that you want a table for just your family. Shoreside cannot promise this as assignments are made on board, but normally requests are met. You WILL know whether you are assigned to main or late seating at the time of booking. If you don't get what you want there, you can decline to book or waitlist for you preference. monty913 Posted August 20, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2014 I sailed in Sept 2013. I requested a table for 2 because we were on our honeymoon. Our request was granted. But we sat at a table for 4 with only 2 people. On this particular cruise, the ship was not at capacity. Our waiter explained that is a big part of the reason we had our own table. There were 2 other couples that sat near us every night that also only had 2 people at a table for 4.
moki'smommy Posted August 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2014 There are no 2 top tables in the main dining rooms, so any time you ask for a "just us" for fewer than 4, you'll get a table for 4. It is true that requests are easier when the cruise is not full, but they are generally met regardless of number of guests on board.
vacation_junkie Posted August 20, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Call and have them note on your reservation that you want to be sat alone. Our party of 3 has always been assigned a table setting for 4. Never any issues.
DISNEY FANTASY Posted August 20, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Table tops are mixed up, four, six dome eight, some ten and twelve but there an exception. Nothing is set. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
mikmouse Posted August 22, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 22, 2014 Our table for two was granted with no problem on the Fantasy. They explained that they don't have smaller tables than 4, they just set it daily for us for 2 and not 4 place settings. It was wonderful.
pmctrish Posted August 24, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Our extended family of ten will be sailing on the Dream. Our reservations are linked. Will we be seated at the same table?
moki'smommy Posted August 24, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Our extended family of ten will be sailing on the Dream. Our reservations are linked. Will we be seated at the same table? It depends on what you want/ask for. They can place tables together to seat 10 at one table. Or, if you prefer, you can break it up any way you want--like 4 and 6 if that makes conversation easier. 10 at one table is workable. We were once at a long table for 18--that's NOT good. We should have broken it into 2 tables.
