puddles99 Posted August 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2014 Absolutely - just be aware that your change will be a mix of Bermuda & US currency depending on what a merchant happens to have on hand. smeyer418 Posted August 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) Bermuda currency is hard to exchange off the island. If you ask they normally can scare up enough US dollars for you as your change if any. Edited August 18, 2014 by smeyer418
morry2121 Posted October 2, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2014 So, I'm guessing the best thing to do is use a credit card whenever possible? I don't want to end up with currency I can't get rid of at home. I understand that cash is needed for bus tickets and taxis.
sebas030 Posted October 2, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2014 If I remember correctly you have a few ATM in Hamilton that will dispense USD, the others will dispense Bermudian. Just make sure you use a USD ATM and that the change you get back from a store is also USD. Here in Quebec, the Bermudian Dollar is worth 0$, they ( bank and currency exchange store ) wont even take it...and of course they don't sell it either. See you soon ! morry2121 Posted October 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2014 Thanks Sebas, Looks like the best thing to do is take enough $US with us. Won't be long now, weather is getting chilly here......I'm watching the webcam.....see you soon!
jdarch Posted October 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2014 We've never had a problem getting US $$ change - when we did get Bermuda money its usually singles or coins. If you can't use them, politely ask for US. Also - heads up: some credit card companies have a surcharge for purchases made out of country. If you have a alternative, it's worth checking out with your CC company.
