Puffsmommy Posted August 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Hi all...I was just wondering if they can really charge you the "prevailing rate when you booked" or do you just lose your full payment (upgrade fees, etc.). In my case there is a big difference since we upgraded to a suite...I wanna get insurance from a third party vendor, but don't wanna insure for the regular price of the cruise...just what I already paid...any thoughts??? timhoke Posted August 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2014 The ticket contract states that if you cancel you will be charged the full fare price.
Puffsmommy Posted August 17, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted August 17, 2014 The ticket contract states that if you cancel you will be charged the full fare price. Yes I know that...but can they really charge my credit card again without my permission???
Hey Tina Posted August 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Yes I know that...but can they really charge my credit card again without my permission??? If the contract does in fact say what the other poster posted and if you signed that contract then they have your permission.
Gig103 Posted August 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Yes I know that...but can they really charge my credit card again without my permission??? They would have your permission if you booked it and it's in the contract.

HawkIVette Posted August 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2014 Sorry again, no personal experience. I have taken 2 "free" cruises. But have always bought the trip insurance from Carnival. I mean, com'on, it is a "free" (very reduced) cruise, so just break out the wallet and buy the trip insurance from them. That way there will be NO PROBLEMS when you cancel. Maybe try calling Carnival and get a reduce cancellation charge if you cancel and they have a chance to re-book the room. Now, if from some reason you have to cancel and can't get the insurance. Take your chances. Either way, I think they have every right to charge you the full cost. You booked the cabin that will go unsold if you don't show up and they could have made the money off of that cabin. So, best situation- get trip insurance and cancel. Negotiate a reduced cancellation charge, or just cancel and take chance on getting charged full fare. Sorry couldn't be more helpful.
