Vicki, thanks so much for posting this sad news. Joe and his lectures added so much to our So. America cruise on the Star from Rio to SF a couple of years ago. I loved being able to stop by his "office" in the excursions area and ask him questions. I will be wearing a red shirt tomorrow in his memory.

Just found out that Joe May who was a regular port lecturer on board Princess for the South America itineraries passed away last night in his sleep from a cardiac arrest. He will be missed.

We will miss you Joe!

Joe helped us a lot on our South American cruise this past December/January. He also gave us a lot of personal advice on how to handle problems we encountered with Princess on several land tours.

Joe May was incredibly gifted and greatly enhanced our South America cruise experiences. Our condolences to his family. Our fondest memory of Joe (aside from his awesome port lectures) was his excitement on the day we circled Cape Horn. The sea conditions were absolutely perfect and the Captain was able to get as close to the Cape as legally possible. We could see the albatross sculpture without binoculars. Joe was literally begging passengers to wake up family members and neighbors so they could see the sight. He said he could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times the weather and sea state were as cruiser friendly and on that particular sailing he was on his 109th voyage around the Cape. Rest in peace Joe, it's going to be difficult to replace you.
